An evaluation of product commonality and group technology production methods in a pre-defined multiple-machine scenario

Group technology has been used successfully for a number of years as a setup reduction tool. It is especially valuable in low-volume high-mix manufacturing environments where products and machines may be partitioned into product families and machine cells. The partitioning of machines or processes into cells may be limited by practical constraints, and the partitioning of products is complicated as the number of products and processes increases. In this paper, the authors examine the behaviour of various grouping strategies lauded as being appropriate in situations where machine partitioning and product routeing are determined by technological constraints. Of specific experimental concern in this paper is the effect of the mean and variance of component part commonality between products on system performance under various grouping strategies in a multiple-machine environment.

Measuring and analysing supply chain schedule stability: A case study in the automotive industry

Final assembly plants send material schedules to first-tier suppliers who in turn send schedules to second-tier suppliers and so on through the multiple tiers of the supply chain. A key cost driver for the supply chain is a schedule characteristic termed stability. The Total Quality Management approach is applied to improve schedule stability in the supply chain of a large vertically integrated automotive manufacturer. A measurement described, actual stability results are provided, the causes of instability are listed, and some corrective actions are specified. Results indicate that schedule stability can be improved without damaging the performance of other measures such as inventory and customer responsiveness. and analysis process is

为了满足最终客户的多样化、及时化的需求,供应链的物流模式成了缩短供应链多阶响应周期的一个重要的研究领域。对比传统的物流模式,快速响应的供应链物流模式的主要改进点在制造商及其以下的节点企业的物流上。四种物流模式对于缩短供应链最终用户的响应周期有极大的意义和作用,它们是:基于制造商的直销模式、以批发商为改进点的零售支持型批发物流和区域零售支持型综合批发物流,以及以零售商为切入点的产销联盟的物流模式,并且它们各自不同的适用范围取决于供应链的运作特点和行业特征。     

企业归核化战略及其对我国企业的启示

20世纪80年代以来,归核化战略在全球迅速兴起,资源基础论和价值链理论为这一战略的兴起和发展提供了理论基础。与此同时,为了应对这一战略带给我国企业的巨大机遇,我国企业最现实的选择就是本着“学习、合作和竞争”的原则,尽快参与到国际供应链之中,逐步谋求发展与壮大。在参与的过程中,我国企业还必须充分考虑战略步骤、链条选择和参与方式等相关问题。     

Tactical coordination in a multi-location and multi-stage operations structure: A model and a pharmaceutical company case

In this paper, we look at the internal supply chain of an internationally operating firm characterized by a multi-location and multi-stage operations structure. We address problems at three levels, namely the strategic, tactical, and operational levels. Our approach goes beyond the operational literature, and focuses primarily on the tactical level. We specify a model and a case that capture strategic and tactical issues and relate the tactical issues to organizational issues. We simulate coordination in different organizational forms pertaining to the ‘tactical control’ of the firm. Our analysis suggests that a functionally organized multi-location and multi-stage operations structure using traditional planning will not work. The choice is between a strongly IT-based, centralized organization or a more decentralized organization using transfer prices as the coordination device.

This article examines some difficulties associated with the Haynes–Stone model and attempts to clarify how the model can be justified as representing the hypothesis that “quantity is demand determined and price is supply determined.” It also argues that the applications of such a model as was done by Haynes and Stone might not have resolved the controversies related to the Phillips curve and the supply function of exports (or imports).

供应链二级分销网络的优化研究

在综合考虑各种费用要素的基础上,提出了供应链二级分销网络优化模型,该模型属于一类选址-分配问题,文章采用遗传算法对其进行求解,从中选出预建立的分销中心,然后采用蚂蚁算法对建立起的二级网络优化运输路线,从而使得总成本更小,文章中用具体的例子进行了仿真,验证了优化模型的正确性和算法的有效性。
