Sample size determination for clinical trials with co‐primary outcomes: exponential event times

Clinical trials with event‐time outcomes as co‐primary contrasts are common in many areas such as infectious disease, oncology, and cardiovascular disease. We discuss methods for calculating the sample size for randomized superiority clinical trials with two correlated time‐to‐event outcomes as co‐primary contrasts when the time‐to‐event outcomes are exponentially distributed. Co‐parenting quality among adoptive mothers: contributions of socioeconomic status,child demands and adult relationship characteristics

Despite the growing emphasis on co‐parenting in family life, little is known about the co‐parenting relationships of adoptive parents. This study examined the contributions of socioeconomic status (SES), child demands and couple relationship characteristics to reported co‐parenting quality among adoptive mothers. Mail questionnaires were administered to 94 adoptive mothers in a Midwestern state. Regression results revealed that SES and child demands were largely unrelated to co‐parenting quality, while couple relationship characteristics (dyadic coping, dyadic adjustment and conflict resolution) contributed significantly to co‐parenting quality. Further, the co‐parenting dimensions revealed different patterns of relatedness with the independent variables, providing support for the notion that co‐parenting is a multidimensional construct. Implications for social work research and practice are discussed.     

基于共词分析的国内职业成长研究的热点探析

职业成长已成为无边界职业生涯时代工作选择的重要标准。以中国知网作为检索来源，输入“职业成长”作为主题词，确定文献类型为学术期刊，一共检索到217篇相关论文；并利用共词分析法对样本进行分析，综合运用SATI、SPSS、Ucinet等软件输出研究现状的分析图谱，从而确定出现有研究领域的8个热点范围：职业成长的基本理论研究、教师职业成长的思考、辅导员职业成长路径与工作、职业生涯与职业环境、企业员工的职业成长、教育教学与职业素质、管理者或企业家的职业成长机制、职场与职业能力；最后在分析结果的基础上对未来进行展望，从而为国内的相关研究提供一定参考。     

From Rome to Accra via Kigali: ‘Aid Effectiveness’ in Rwanda

Since the mid‐2000s, significant strides have been made in Rwanda to implement the ‘aid effectiveness’ agenda as captured in the 2005 Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. This article explores the historical evolution of this process since 1994, exposing the complex manoeuvring to establish workable practices, and the less visible political implications of this agenda. The Rwandan government is considered to have strong ‘ownership’ of aid strategies. However, the article demonstrates that the concept of progressive ownership implicit within ‘aid effectiveness’ discourse is misleading. The evidence points rather to joint ownership between donor and recipient, reflecting limitations to the amount of control over aid that donors will cede.     

中外合作办学高校的体育师资建设

通过文献资料法、问卷调查法及实地考察等方法,以全国中外合作办学高校体育师资现状为研究对象进行调查研究,认为中外合作办学高校体育教师队伍的建设尚属初步发展阶段,有许多不完善因素影响体育教学与体育科研的发展。提出了做好中外合作办学高校体育教师的职后培训,中外合作办学特色体育教师的培养,减少体育教师教学任务以提高科研水平,完善体育教学监管机制,提高体育教师福利待遇稳定教师团队建设等建议。     

A comparison of multi‐disciplinary groups in the UK and New Jersey

During the past 30 years in both the United Kingdom and the United States there has been an increasing emphasis on the need for the agencies, disciplines and professions who are involved in investigating child abuse allegations and in protecting children from abuse to work together, to cooperate with each other and to coordinate their responses. (See Besharov, 1990; British Paediatric Association, 1966; Kempe and Helfer, 1972; London Borough of Brent, 1985; London Borough of Greenwich, 1987). One way of achieving this has been through the use of multi‐disciplinary groups. This paper will describe the initial findings from a study which aimed to examine and compare the working of two such groups, namely, case conferences in the UK and multi‐disciplinary teams in one state in the United States, New Jersey. The findings from the study show that while there are some similarities between the two types of multi‐disciplinary groups, there are also significant differences in functions, membership, structure of meetings and chairing. However, the major difference that emerges is the more prominent role of representatives from the legal system in New Jersey's multi‐disciplinary teams compared with UK case conferences. “I was Excited by the Idea of a Project that Focuses on those Unasked Questions” Co‐Producing Disability Research with Disabled Young People

In this article, we detail the politics and practicalities of co‐produced disability research with disabled young people with life‐limiting and life‐threatening impairments. We centre an ESRC‐funded arts‐informed co‐produced research project that has brought together a Co‐Researcher Collective of disabled young people. Co‐production is an established approach; however, our co‐researchers have led us to develop inclusive research practices that engage with online social research methods in innovative ways. As we detail our experiences, we aim to encourage disability studies researchers and others to adopt virtual environments when researching with and for the lives of disabled people.
