英语报刊语篇中的词汇衔接研究

词汇衔接是衔接的主要部分。本文以韩礼德等语言学家的衔接理论为基础,对英语报刊语篇进行具体分析,指出词汇衔接能使语篇达到统一的语境,是构建语篇主题以及使语篇连贯的主要手段。     

习近平外交话语英译的叙事建构 ——以《论坚持推动建构人类命运共同体》为例

作为习近平外交专著,《论坚持推动建构人类命运共同体》集中体现了新时代中国特色社会主义外交思想,全面体现了习近平外交叙事风格。以莫娜·贝克的叙事学概念为基础对习近平外交话语及英译进行分析,既能凸显译者作为翻译主体的作用和功效,又有助于中国外交叙事的建构。通过叙事策略的运作,包括建构时空、选择性采用文本素材、建构标示以及再定位人物事件,译文重构了习近平外交话语的本体叙事、公共叙事、概念叙事以及元叙事。同时,叙事学与外交翻译的结合不仅拓宽叙事学学科领域,为外交话语研究提供新视角,而且为完成既定的翻译使命提供了新的路径参考。保持政治上的高度、揣摩文化上的深度、把握思维上的向度以及巧用技能上的广度都成为译者顺利完成叙事建构的重要因素。     

后发展地区“贫困文化”话语：在学界与公众之间

以文献分析和扎根编码的方法,分析不同主体对“贫困文化”的理解,发现：部分研究运用“贫困文化”理论以解释经济或教育欠发达地区的文化表征,使得西方话语构建的“贫困文化”在国内学界话语中发生变形。“贫困文化”逐渐被构建成贫困地区文化的集体表征,即“贫困文化”的集体表征是具有区域性的,倾向于认同经济后发展地区带有这种文化特征;公众对“贫困文化”的理解则倾向于个体表征,即“贫困文化”的个体表征主要集中在个人特征,认为“贫困文化”是个体主观意识不强或能力不足所致。同时,对“贫困文化”的认知在学界与公众之间出现趋同也说明,带有发展主义阶序关系的价值评判方式,已逐渐通过话语权力的影响,将“贫困文化”作为区域性的文化表征推向公众认知领域。这使后发展地区的人们成为“贫困文化”的指称对象,难以真正摆脱思想意识上的贫困。因此,学界话语有必要在了解不同地区文化传统的基础上,进一步厘清丰富“贫困文化”的基本内涵和表征,从而构建后发展地区经济与文化协调发展的良性关系。     

论微文化视域的大学生理想信念教育话语权建构

文章从微文化视域对大学生理想信念教育话语权进行分析,通过微文化对大学生理想信念教育话语权建构的价值和挑战两个维度进行解析,提出微文化已经成为大学生学习生活的重要组成部分,为大学生理想信念教育话语权建构提供了良好契机,但同时也冲击着大学生理想信念教育话语权威.探索充分认识并利用微文化的优势,既有传承,又有创新,提升理想信念教育话语内容导向性,畅通理想信念教育话语权对话机制,优化理想信念教育话语渠道,建构大学生理想信念教育话语权,是适应新形势、新变化的必然要求,对于高校思想政治工作以及弘扬和培育社会主义核心价值观具有积极意义.     

学术写作的互动式话语策略

学术写作并非完全机械化,也并非全盘避免作者主观情感的介入。学术作者使用多种话语策略来宣传其观点和立场,营造和谐对话空间,与读者形成良好互动,从而引导读者接受所述命题观点。基于学术语篇互动模型,分别从模糊语策略、作者身份构建方式以及作者与读者的隐性互动三个方面来阐释学术写作中的互动式话语策略。研究表明,每个学科都有其偏好的写作模式,教师应引导学生关注所属学科的语言范式,培养学生的读者意识,并在学术写作中采用积极有效、易于被读者接受的互动策略有力发声,推进研究。

经济原则是人类语言交际的普遍规律之一。从经济原则入手，探讨了广告语篇互文性的经济性理据，分析了互文性手段在广告语篇应用中实现的具体方式。经济原则是广告中使用互文性手段的根源。     

Good Gay Buddies for Lifetime: Homosexually Themed Discourse and the Construction of Heteromasculinity Among Chinese Urban Youth

Starting as an Internet meme, the homosexually themed gao-ji discourse recently became popular among Chinese urban youth in describing intimate relationships among heterosexual men. Positioned within a body of scholarship on the interplay between language, homophobia, and the construction of heteromasculinity, this article suggests that the gao-ji discourse manifests a form of male homosociality, through which new boundaries of Chinese heteromasculinity may be renegotiated. Based on qualitative interviews with college students, the article first tracks the genealogy of the gao-ji discourse in the wake of China’s booming Internet culture. The main body focuses on unpacking the daily use of the gao-ji discourse, with an attention to the two latent functions it serves (i.e., expanding heteromasculine behaviors and reiterating heteromasculine identities). In conclusion, I argue that the prevalence of the gao-ji discourse mainly resolves straight men’s anxieties against the background of growing public awareness of homosexuality; therefore, it cannot necessarily translate into social acceptance of homosexuality.     

Racial diversity in the suburbs: how race-neutral responses to demographic change perpetuate inequity in suburban school districts

Suburbs across the US are experiencing dramatic demographic shifts, yet there is little research available on how suburban school districts are dealing with these changes. In this article, we examine the discourses surrounding race and demographic change in three suburban school districts that have been undergoing rapid demographic changes and which contain demographically distinct areas within their district boundaries. Utilizing a critical discourse analysis (CDA) approach, we analyze how the policy context (federal and state) frames actors’ discourses and understandings of race, paying particular attention to the political and institutional factors affecting school policy. We illustrate how the discourse, in turn, is related to the actions (or inactions) taken by district and school leaders to respond to demographic change. We conclude the article by discussing policy implications and potential challenges districts may face in the future if efforts to purposively address racial changes continue to be avoided.     

“Open to all and everybody”? The Irish Film Board: accounting for the scarcity of women screenwriters

Despite the many social and cultural changes that have occurred in Irish society since the Irish Film Board was re-established in 1993, the Irish film industry remains strongly male dominated. Specifically, Irish women constitute a minority of produced screenwriters and writer/directors. This article contributes to an understanding of the discursive resources that key decision makers in the Irish Film Board draw upon in order to talk about gender. A number of interpretative repertoires are used to rationalize its position in relation to the dearth of women screenwriters, four of which are examined here: evasion and deflection; gender neutrality; project-led funding; and a difficulty making sense of entrenched gender issues, articulated here as “I don’t know.” Within the respondents’ repertoires an ideological dilemma can be identified in the conceptualization of gender as both relevant and irrelevant.
