Self-representations in Early Adolescence: Variations in Sibling Similarity by Sex Composition and Sibling Relationship Qualities

Self-representations play an important role in adolescent development. This study compared self-representations for siblings and explored whether sibling relationship characteristics are associated with similarities or differences in sibling self-concepts. We examined self-representations of 438 adolescent sibling dyads ( M age younger sibling  =  11.6 years, M age older  =  14.3 years), finding that siblings are, on average, similar in their self-representations. This similarity varied, however, depending on sex composition and sibling relationship qualities. Results indicated that sibling modeling, warmth, and conflict were especially influential in predicting sibling resemblance vs. dissimilarity.

Time-series forecasting with a novel fuzzy time-series approach: an example for Istanbul stock market

Artificial intelligence procedures such as artificial neural networks (ANNs), genetic algorithms and particle swarm optimization and other procedures such as fuzzy clustering have been successfully used in the various stages of different fuzzy time-series forecasting approaches. Fuzzy clustering, genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization are generally used in the fuzzification stage, and this simplifies the applicability of this stage and makes the fuzzy time-series approach more systematic. ANNs have also been applied successfully in the fuzzy relationship determination stage. In this study, we propose a new hybrid fuzzy time-series approach in which fuzzy c-means clustering procedure is employed in the fuzzification stage and feed-forward neural networks are used in the fuzzy relationship determination stage. This study also includes an empirical analysis pertaining to the forecasting of Index 100 for the stocks and bonds exchange market of Istanbul.

Grieving the Loss of a Pet Needs the Health System Recognition

Globally there is increased presence of pets in the households. This non-human relationship, with its dimensions of physical and emotional bonds, can get severely jolted on the death of the companion animal. It sets a feeling, ‘our life is now left with a void and the house feels utterly empty’. Unlike the loss of a child, spouse or parent which become a shared tragedy; others may not understand the depth of sadness and a sense of void in a grieving pet owner. Emotional pain and physical distress due to the loss of a companion animal are likely to be pronounced. A big challenge for the medical community is to anticipate, identify and address physical and psychosocial symptom burdens in a timely manner.     

电影与文学：一个“艺术概论”课程的教学主题

电影与文学的关系是大学艺术概论课程中无法回避的理论主题。电影与文学在形式、内容、呈现对象及手段等方面具有显著差异，这令它们被归入不同的艺术门类。电影工业的兴起离不开对文学叙事和表现形式的吸纳与运用，也离不开文学家对电影工作的参与。与此同时，电影这一新兴媒介的发展与变迁还在不同历史阶段启发了文学创作，推动文学形态及表现手法的变迁。两者之间的关系，将为理解当代文艺生态的整体状况提供参照。     

梅贻琦“从游论”的教育思想与当代启示

＂从游而学＂的教学形式在我国源远流长。梅贻琦主持清华大学、西南联合大学期间发展＂从游而学＂的思想,并赋予了新的含义,即著名的＂从游论＂。＂从游论＂揭示了大学教学活动主客体双方平等民主的合作关系以及和谐活跃、宽松自由校园文化的独特价值,并在教学实践中取得了显著的效益。这些都为当前构建和谐民主的高校育人环境提供了新的思路。     

A Transformation Programme for Children's Social Care Managers Using an Interactional and Reflective Supervision Model to Develop Supervision Skills

In this paper, I describe a programme to promote interactional and reflective supervision for managers in children's services. The programme works at whole system change to embed a culture of reflective practice and management.
