This article attempts to distinguish two kinds of secularization and mass culture in contemporary China by creatively deploying Hannah Arendt, Jurgen Habermas and other western thinkers’ theories of secularization and modernity. It argues that, in the 1980s, China underwent a first process of secularization: that was characterized by liberating a secular society from the quasi-religious totalitarianism of the Cultural Revolution through the re-establishment of a civic society, which integrated individualism and publicness, with awareness of individual rights and rights for participation. The participation of new and self-disciplined rational individuals, who were concerned with pubic interests and issues. This essay takes Teresea Teng's popular songs as an important example of this first kind of secularization, as an attempt to demonstrate how the mass culture of the 1980s actively contributed to the construction of this new publicness. Since the 1990s, however, another kind of secularization emerged, one that did not care about the public world and others, but instead about material enjoyment and intimate private matters. Different from the religious path, this represents a way of abandoning the public world: it takes the form of a retreat into bodily/physiological happiness and one's secluded private world, leading to the development of a morbid narcissistic personality. This essay argues that these two kinds of secularization are the foundation and the starting point for us to understand the political effects of two kinds of mass culture. 相似文献

We consider the problem of estimation of a finite population proportion (P) related to a sensitive attribute under Warner's (1965) randomized response plan and the unrelated question plan due to Horvitz et al. (1967) and prove that for a given probability sampling design, given any linear unbiased estimator (LUE) of P based on Warner's (1965) plan with any given value of the plan parameter, there exists an LUE of P based on the unrelated question plan with a uniformly smaller variance for suitable choices of the plan parameters. Assuming that only the attribute is sensitive but its complement is innocuous, the same is also shown to be true when the plan parameters for the two plans are so chosen so that both offer the same specified level of privacy. 相似文献

ABSTRACTActivists and legal scholars seeking remedies to non-consensual pornography (known colloquially as ‘revenge porn’) have generally framed it as a violation of privacy; however, the concept of privacy a fraught history, linked to women’s exclusion from the public sphere, denial of their sexual expression, and impunity for abusers. I argue that the concept of body integrity better maps onto the experiences described by victims, who seldom distinguish between digital representations of their body and the body itself and who often liken non-consensual pornography to sexual assault. However, a feminist approach to bodily integrity (rather than one rooted in classical liberalism) is require in order to account for the disproportionately negative consequences non-consensual pornography has for women. 相似文献

Information about UK citizens’ use of digital technologies is often expressed in statistics – x% lack Internet access; y% get online to engage in online banking, update social media sites, or participate in online auctions. There are many social implications to digital technology use, however – individuals may communicate online as a major way to stay in touch with friends and family, and as Internet access rises and government and public sector budgets shrink, online services become an increasingly attractive way for government and public sector service providers to communicate with citizens. This paper presents selected results of an exploratory study designed to investigate the digital personhood of UK citizens through interviews with participants at three life transitions: leaving secondary school, becoming a parent, and retiring from work. Digital personhood in this paper implies identity information online, and some interaction with others around that information. We then report on our presentation of a selection of these results to thirteen stakeholders who represented UK government departments, public sector organisations, and industry. We found that citizen and stakeholder concerns were quite different, especially at the new parent life transition, and that stakeholders tended to underestimate the willingness and ability of citizens to become involved online with the government and public sector, and overestimate citizens’ vulnerability online. Future research should investigate practical strategies for increasing communication between stakeholders and citizens, and also how to encourage stakeholders to work together to benefit their common clientele – the citizens. 相似文献

个人信息可依三种不同标准作类型化划分.依能否直接识别特定自然人的标准可分为直接个人信息与间接个人信息.一切需要借助其他信息确定特定自然人身份的信息均属间接个人信息.依敏感度的标准可分为敏感个人信息与一般个人信息.敏感个人信息应包括医疗及健康信息、性生活及性取向信息、身份识别号码、个人生物识别信息.依信息主体身份的标准可分为普通人的个人信息与特殊群体的个人信息.特殊群体的个人信息指的是未成年人、公众人物、公务员、企业高级管理人员及控制人的个人信息. 相似文献

ITR是ITU重要的多边条约,对ITR的审议和再修订不仅涉及ITR在全球电信新趋势下的功能和定位,还涉及ITU职能范围变化等重大问题。通过全面解析和评价各成员国对ITR审议的主要观点可以发现,在全球电信新趋势下,ITR面临着三大问题,即发达国家与发展中国家之间“数字鸿沟”不断拉大;各成员国都面临着日益严峻的网络与信息安全问题;国际上缺乏普遍有效的网络安全与个人隐私保护的国际规则。ITR的修订应对上述问题具有现实指导意义,对世界电信的未来发展起到前瞻作用。 相似文献

网络文化的传播媒介是数字,数字在网络空间中表现为数据库。数据库在网络空间里隐秘地生产着数量庞大的主体变体。数据库的民主化、商业化和政治化使数据库里的主体变体由私人空间流向公共空间。主体变体的公共化为侵犯个人隐私埋下了祸根。大众的焦虑否定了网络隐私的敞开化,个人隐私在大数据时代必然受到重视并被学者关注和研究。网络空间的法治化是网络治理的重要策略,宪法和法律是数据库的合法代理人。 相似文献
