Chapter 3 Decision-Making and Satisfaction with a Continuing Care Retirement Community

Abstract

We draw on both life course and decision-making theories to examine decision strategies prior to moving to a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) and subsequent satisfaction following the move. Multivariate analyses drawing on panel data for a sample of 92 older adults (age 64 to 94) before and after their move to a CCRC show that frequent residential relocation in the adult years reduces the odds of considering staying in one's own home. Cognitive orientations at time 1 predict subsequent satisfaction with the move to a CCRC: mastery increases the odds, desiring age-integrated housing reduces the odds.     

Parenting Plans for Infants,Toddlers, and Preschoolers: Research and Issues

In the debate over parenting plans for infants and toddlers, a central question is whether these very young children should spend overnight time away from their mothers in their fathers’ care. This article summarizes and critiques the 11 empirical studies that have addressed this question. Overall, overnighting was not associated with negative outcomes for infants and toddlers and was associated with positive outcomes for preschoolers.     

Neighborhood Experiences and Community Integration

Abstract

This exploratory study examines the social interactional aspect of community integration among persons with psychiatric disabilities. Six focus groups were conducted with 18 mental health consumers in three publicly sponsored community residential programs and 11 staff members providing services to these consumers. Mental health consumers reported both positive and negative experiences in their interactions with community residents. Despite perceived differences between persons with psychiatric disabilities and their neighbors, consumers considered reciprocity and mutual accommodation to be critical for building social relationships in their communities. Mental health providers suggested that social integration can be facilitated by developing independent living and social skills, by overcoming self-stigma and institutional and homeless mindsets, and by having a supportive community of consumers.     

Gatekeepers,Gatecrashers, and Gateways in Group Work with Kids: A Mystery Story

This article is framed as a group work mystery story and presents obstacles and opportunities for working with children and adolescents in groups. The reader is left guessing about how a student intern can overcome what she experiences as an unsympathetic supervisor who is thwarting her attempts to form an activity group composed of teenaged moms. The article interweaves group work concepts and additional practice illustrations around the unfolding mystery. The concept of teaching-on-the-go is issued as challenge for all group workers that wish to be itinerant educators and missionaries for the method.     

扬州传统民居建筑特征研究综述

扬州是我国历史文化名城之一,其老城区内遗存的大量传统民居建筑具有很高的历史文化价值和建筑艺术价值。对扬州传统民居建筑特征的研究始于上世纪五六十年代,发展至今大概可分为三个阶段,研究涉及建筑、历史、文化、艺术等多个领域,在传统建筑特色、盐商建筑特色和建筑砖雕装饰方面,取得了一定的研究成果,但总体上仍相对滞后,在研究对象、研究内容、研究方法等方面存在着进步的空间,部分观点仍存在着深入研究的可能性。     

文化产业园区建设对住宅类房地产发展的影响

文化产业园区通过产业集聚、规模开发所形成的文化、旅游、生态环境等资源,以及政府对园区建设的支持而给予的一系列优惠条件,对住宅类房地产的发展有着十分积极的影响。本文通过对房地产发展的影响因素分析,并以西安曲江新区为例,论述了文化产业园区建设对房地产发展的影响。旨在为如何完善文化产业的市场化程度,推进文化产业园区的发展与成熟,同时促进房地产业转变发展模式,发掘新的经济增长点,实现稳定、健康、可持续的发展提供参考。     

小区车位和车库权属研究

《中华人民共和国物权法》第七十四条试图结束开发商和业主之间车位和车库权属纷争,但表述模糊,无可操作性。从车位和车库的区分界定以及物权理论来看,车位应归业主共有,车库作为独立的物权客体可以归开发商或者业主所有,但是车位和车库的产权无论归属于谁,都应当"首先满足业主的需要"。这里"首先满足"是指优先使用、购买和租赁等权利。     

北京农村地区居住建筑的适用节能措施分析

北京农村居住建筑大都没有采取保温措施，建筑能耗大，室内热舒适性差，有很大的节能潜力。结合北京农村建筑现状和能源使用情况，提出几种方案，采用DeST软件进行模拟分析，并结合现场测试，分析了方案的技术和经济可行性：采取岩棉、胶粉聚苯颗粒、聚苯板、袋装聚苯颗粒等措施，室内平均温度提高7—9．5℃；加装保温窗帘可以减少54％～60％的冷风渗透热负荷；每年可节约52％～61％的呆暖耗煤量，初始投入仅增加94～129元／m^2，有较强的推广价值。     

论安全文明小区建设及其管理体制

安全文明小区建设的目的，是以城市社区为主体，在政府的指导下，优化社区生活环境。它本质上是一种基层社会工作过程，必然要受社会发展总体目标和社会工作规律的约束。要使之更有成效地开展下去，就须研究其管理体制的法制化
