There are no practical and effective mechanisms to share high-dimensional data including sensitive information in various fields like health financial intelligence or socioeconomics without compromising either the utility of the data or exposing private personal or secure organizational information. Excessive scrambling or encoding of the information makes it less useful for modelling or analytical processing. Insufficient preprocessing may compromise sensitive information and introduce a substantial risk for re-identification of individuals by various stratification techniques. To address this problem, we developed a novel statistical obfuscation method (DataSifter) for on-the-fly de-identification of structured and unstructured sensitive high-dimensional data such as clinical data from electronic health records (EHR). DataSifter provides complete administrative control over the balance between risk of data re-identification and preservation of the data information. Simulation results suggest that DataSifter can provide privacy protection while maintaining data utility for different types of outcomes of interest. The application of DataSifter on a large autism dataset provides a realistic demonstration of its promise practical applications.  相似文献

本文旨在研究基于fused惩罚的稀疏主成分分析方法,以适用于相邻变量之间高度相关甚至完全相等的数据情形。首先,从回归分析角度出发,提出一种求解稀疏主成分的简便思路,给出一种广义的稀疏主成分模型—— GSPCA模型及其求解算法,并证明在惩罚函数取1-范数时,该模型与现有的稀疏主成分模型——SPC模型的求解结果一致。其次,本文提出将fused惩罚与主成分分析相结合,得到一种fused稀疏主成分分析方法,并从惩罚性矩阵分解和回归分析两个角度,给出两种模型形式。在理论上证明了两种模型的求解结果是一致的,故将其统称为FSPCA模型。模拟实验显示,FSPCA模型在处理相邻变量之间高度相关甚至完全相等的数据集上的表现良好。最后,将FSPCA模型应用于手写数字识别,发现与SPC模型相比,FSPCA模型所提取的主成分具备更好的解释性,这使得该模型更具实用价值。  相似文献

Simulation results are reported on methods that allow both within group and between group heteroscedasticity when testing the hypothesis that independent groups have identical regression parameters. The methods are based on a combination of extant techniques, but their finite-sample properties have not been studied. Included are results on the impact of removing all leverage points or just bad leverage points. The method used to identify leverage points can be important and can improve control over the Type I error probability. Results are illustrated using data from the Well Elderly II study.  相似文献

Self-validated computations using interval analysis produce results with a guaranteed error bound. This article presents methods for self-validated computation of probabilities and percentile points of the bivariate chi-square distribution and a bivariate F distribution. For the computation of critical points (c 1,c 2) in the equation P(Y 1 @ c 1, Y 2c 2) = 1 ? α, the case c 1 = c 2 is considered. A combination of interval secant and bisection algorithms is developed for finding enclosures of the percentile points of the distribution. This paper examines the choice of critical values for testing both non-sequential and nested sequential sets of constraints in the standard linear regression model. Modest increases in (e.g.) t-ratio critical values relative to their one-off values are often sufficient to maintain proper size. A Bayesian decision-theoretic approach, highlighted by the Schwarz (1978) criterion, provides a framework for deriving consistency and asymptotic local power properties of both forms of testing (data mining) algorithms.  相似文献

In recent years there has been a rapid growth in the amount of DNA being sequenced and in its availability through genetic databases. Statistical techniques which identify structure within these sequences can be of considerable assistance to molecular biologists particularly when they incorporate the discrete nature of changes caused by evolutionary processes. This paper focuses on the detection of homogeneous segments within heterogeneous DNA sequences. In particular, we study an intron from the chimpanzee α-fetoprotein gene; this protein plays an important role in the embryonic development of mammals. We present a Bayesian solution to this segmentation problem using a hidden Markov model implemented by Markov chain Monte Carlo methods. We consider the important practical problem of specifying informative prior knowledge about sequences of this type. Two Gibbs sampling algorithms are contrasted and the sensitivity of the analysis to the prior specification is investigated. Model selection and possible ways to overcome the label switching problem are also addressed. Our analysis of intron 7 identifies three distinct homogeneous segment types, two of which occur in more than one region, and one of which is reversible.  相似文献

The partial least squares (PLS) approach first constructs new explanatory variables, known as factors (or components), which are linear combinations of available predictor variables. A small subset of these factors is then chosen and retained for prediction. We study the performance of PLS in estimating single-index models, especially when the predictor variables exhibit high collinearity. We show that PLS estimates are consistent up to a constant of proportionality. We present three simulation studies that compare the performance of PLS in estimating single-index models with that of sliced inverse regression (SIR). In the first two studies, we find that PLS performs better than SIR when collinearity exists. In the third study, we learn that PLS performs well even when there are multiple dependent variables, the link function is non-linear and the shape of the functional form is not known.  相似文献
