Robust regression: an inferential method for determining which independent variables are most important

Consider the usual linear regression model consisting of two or more explanatory variables. There are many methods aimed at indicating the relative importance of the explanatory variables. But in general these methods do not address a fundamental issue: when all of the explanatory variables are included in the model, how strong is the empirical evidence that the first explanatory variable is more or less important than the second explanatory variable? How strong is the empirical evidence that the first two explanatory variables are more important than the third explanatory variable? The paper suggests a robust method for dealing with these issues. The proposed technique is based on a particular version of explanatory power used in conjunction with a modification of the basic percentile method.

[摘 要]商业银行应该发展碳金融,但其发展过程中存在较多风险,针对这些风险,可以采取以下几条措施防范: 建立并完善法律体系,规避法律风险;制定稳定的政策制度,降低政策风险;构建完善的内控体系,管理和控制经营风险;多渠道培养专业人才,解决人才风险;建立并健全的碳金融市场,减少市场环境风险。     

The Impact of Religiousness,Spirituality, and Social Support on Psychological Well-Being Among Older Adults in Rural Areas

Summary

This paper presents the results of a study on the impact of spirituality, religiousness, and social support on the psychological well-being among rural elderly. With a rural community sample of 215 older adults, hierarchical regression analyses found significant associations between dimensions of spirituality/religiousness, social support, and psychological well-being, with spirituality/religiousness inversely related to depression and social support, positively related to life satisfaction. Findings of this study suggest that practitioners need to develop programs or services that are congruent with religious/spiritual beliefs and practices in order to better enhance the psychosocial well-being and improve the quality of life among older persons in rural areas.     

Ranking Income Distributions by Deprivation Orderings

This paper has examined the problem of ranking income distributions using absolute deprivation ordering. It appears that the ranking of distributions by this ordering may be more unambiguous than that generated by the relative deprivation ordering. The class of average deprivation indices consistent with the absolute deprivation criterion is also identified.     

Early childhood interventionists' perspectives on serving maltreated infants and toddlers

A 2003 amendment to the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) required states to create developmental screening programs for maltreated infants and toddlers. Programs authorized under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) were directed to work with state and local child welfare authorities to develop the screening program. They were also to ensure that additional assessment and intervention was provided when needed. The degree to which this mandate has been implemented varies widely between state and local programs. Some early intervention experts and Part C program administrators have expressed concerns about providers' willingness to serve families referred from child welfare, but there has been no systematic research on this issue. The Professional Interventionist CAPTA Survey (PICS) is a newly developed measure of early childhood intervention providers' perceptions of their responsibilities under CAPTA. The first aim of this study was to conduct analysis of the PICS using a national sample of providers. This study also reports the perceptions of early childhood interventionists about their responsibilities under CAPTA and examines the relationship between worker characteristics and how they perceive these responsibilities. The PICS appears to be useful for examining early childhood intervention providers' responses to CAPTA.     

对我国机构养老模式发展问题的思考

当银发老人越来越多地出现在我们的视野中,如何让他们安度晚年的养老问题就渐渐浮出水面。计划生育政策实施以来,伴随的是家庭结构的悄然变化,四二一式的家庭养老模式越来越难以承担起整个家庭的养老重任。多种形式的社会化养老模式纷纷应运而生,其中机构养老以其自身独特的规模优势发挥着相应作用。然而由于种种局限性制约,其发展一直比较缓慢。本文通过对我国养老机构发展状况进行纵向分析,发掘出了几点制约性因素,进而提出了几方面建议和对策。     

农民工精神文化生活状况及文化适应研究——以南宁市万秀村为例

随着改革开放和社会经济的发展,农民工群体已成为城市社会不可替代的重要力量。然而农民工在城市中却一直处于边缘化的地位,精神文化生活严重滞后。本文以南宁市西乡塘区万秀村为例,深入分析居住该村的农民工精神文化生活现状、主要困境以及造成困境的原因,在此基础上提出改善城市农民工的精神文化生活、促进农民工文化适应的若干策略。     

贫困大学生心理健康与应对方式、社会支持和个性特征调查

应用症状自评量表等4个国际通用心理问卷对高校贫困大学生进行的心理健康状况调查发现,36．5％的贫困大学生存在心理问题甚或心理障碍,其中：个性内向者在强迫症、人际关系、抑郁、焦虑、恐怖5个因子分上高于个性外向者;农村贫困大学生社会支持总分和客观支持分高于城市贫困大学生;心理健康者比存在心理健康问题者自觉有更多的主观支持及支持利用,且应对方式积极主动。建议加强对贫困大学生的自立教育,着力塑造他们的良好个性,帮助他们树立进取的社会心态。     

黄石国有矿冶企业知识型员工的激励管理浅析

在知识经济时代,技术成为决定一个企业是否具有竞争力的一个重要因素,作为掌握科学技术知识的知识型员工成为各企业争夺的对象。目前,国有矿冶企业知识型员工相对紧缺,知识型员工流动比较容易,从而造成的人才流失风险增大。本文在界定知识型员工的相关概念和了解相关激励理论之后,分析了黄石国有矿冶企业在对知识型员工激励管理方面存在的问题并提出了相应的对策。

统计方法制度是统计工作的基础和根本,是指导开展统计工作的规范和准则。建立适合我国国情的统计方法制度体系是做好统计工作、为社会各界提供高质量数据的重要前提和保障。本文首先介绍了我国现行的统计方法制度体系,总结了其基本特点及存在的问题,然后针对当前统计工作面临的挑战,确立了统计方法制度改革的总体思路和原则,最后提出了统计方法制度改革拟采取的具体措施。
