The positive transmission and aesthetic reconstruction of Chinese contemporary films and television works to contemporary college students

The varieties and different form of contemporary films and television works have brought a great impact to the group of college students' ideas and behaviors. The works are the textbook of outlook on life, the guide of values, the leader of outlook on beauty, to contemporary college students. This paper points out that the contemporary film and television works play an important role in the ideological and political education of contemporary college students. For positive transmission and aesthetic reconstruction of Chinese film and television works from the perspective of ideological and political education, one needs to do the following things: to explore new ways of aesthetic education in the Internet era through film and television aesthetic education; Refusing to cultivate the one-dimensional personality in the media age by film and television aesthetic education; To build a new type of film and television aesthetic education system, for a new breakthrough in film and television art classroom, so as to promote the all-round development of contemporary college students in moral, intellectual, physical, beauty, labor.

Policing native pleasures: a colonial history

The moral modality of colonial power is still with us when it comes to the recreation of sexual norms of traditional or feudal society. We can examine the emergent properties of colonial knowledge anew by exploring how the colonial regime's strategic attention of regulating brothels in India differed from the analytic of power Foucault described for sexuality in European society. It turns out that amongst other things, public anxieties about the failure of adaptation by South Asians are incapable of leaving sexuality aside as a key interpretive device for their culture. The British preoccupation with reproducing the dynamics of the bourgeois matrimonial market on foreign soil in the mid‐nineteenth century similarly necessitated a sociological pretext for racial purity. However, the kind of knowledge a typical traveller and employee of the East India Company brought to the Victorian public from his own researches in the brothels and streets of colonial India, which revealed how popular prostitution was as a vice amongst the officer class, was also more than a welcome imaginary relief from Christian morality; it was an alternative vision of modernity.     

“世界文学”与非西方世界

"世界文学"在西方的实践表明,它实际上排除了现代时期以前的写作文本以及英语之外的写作文本。思考世界文学时,秉持一种"道德的以及理论理想化的包容性世界文学"观念是必要的。这样的世界文学观念将以一种系统的方式把非西方世界的文学包括在内。如何以一种系统的方式把非西方文学包括在世界文学中,可以考虑如下三种富有成效的方法。其一,以印度、中国、日本为中心或其他非西方的观点去看待世界文学;其二,通过东西方诗学的比较研究来看待世界文学;其三,在东方学习西方、西方学习东方的过程中来看待审美循环的结合点。这种世界文学观念将不仅更加准确地反映世界的组成,并且还将以一种更加平等的方式看待世界。     

Modernity and Globalization: The Local and Global Sources of Individualistic and Materialistic Values in Shanghai

Sociological research has arrived at an intellectual crossroad where it faces the challenge of understanding how the dynamics of globalization have joined the forces of modernization in inducing social change. In this paper, using a survey conducted in Pudong, Shanghai, in 2001, which had captured conditions of the area's rapid transformations in a globalizing city, first, we have uncovered two distinctive dimensions of individualistic vs. materialistic values via factor analysis. Second, we have shown strong bivariate relationships between these two dimensions of values and several demographic and socioeconomic variables, as well as personal global connections (PGCs). Third, we have found that PGCs have uneven significant effects on the emergence of individualistic and materialistic values net of the demographic and socioeconomic variables. Finally, we discuss how modernizing and globalizing conditions are conducive to the formation of individualistic and materialistic values in Shanghai, heralding this process in other rapidly modernizing and globalizing cities in China and elsewhere.
