An Empirical Strategy to Detect Spurious Effects in Long Memory and Occasional-Break Processes

Long-range dependence and structural changes in level are intimely related phenomena and it is very difficult to separate the two effects. In this article, we present an empirical procedure to distinguish between long-memory and occasional-break processes. An extensive Monte Carlo experiment illustrates the performance of the procedure and an application to real data is also included.     

Minimum average risk estimators for coefficients in linear models

We consider the problem of estimating the coefficient vector β of a linear regression model with quadratic loss function. Some biased estimators which utilize the prior information about β are considered. Also studied is the problem of estimating the parameters of an over-identified structural equation from undersized samples.     

Objective Priors for Parameters in a Normal Linear Regression with Measurement Error

We investigate certain objective priors for the parameters in a normal linear regression models with one of the explanatory variables subject to measurement error. We first show that the use of the standard non informative prior for normal linear regression without measurement error leads to an improper posterior in the measurement error model. We then derive the Jeffreys prior and reference priors, and show that they lead to proper posteriors. We use simulation study to compare the frequentist performance of the estimates derived using these priors, and the MLE.     

On prediction from the location-scale model with equi correlated response

The location-scale model with equi-correlated responses is discussed. The structure of the location-scale model is utilised to genera-te the prediction distribution of a future response and that of a set of future responses. The method avoids the integration procedures usually involved in derivation of prediction distributions and yields results same as those obtained by the Bayes method with the vague prior distribution* Finally the re-suits have been specialised to cover the case of the normal intra-class model.     

On the distribution of some test statistics connected with the multivariate linear functional relationship model

An alternate representation of the densities of some test statistics for the structural coefficients of the multivariate linear functional relationship model is proposed in this article. These statistics are distributed as the ratio of a linear combination of chi-square variÂtes over the root of a product of chi-square variÂtes. A computable representation of their densities has already been derived by Provost (1984) with the help of the technique of the inverse Mellin transform. The connection of the alternate representation to the densities of products of independent beta type-2 and of independent F-random variables is also discussed.     

Unbiased estimation of a nonlinear function a normal mean with application to measurement err oorf models

Let W be a normal random variable with mean μand known variance σ². Conditions on the function f(·) are given under which there exists an unbiased estimator, f(W), of f(μ) for all real μ. In particular it is shown that f(·) must be an entire function over the complex plane. Infinite series solutions for F(·) are obtained which are shown to be valid under growth conditions of the derivatives, f^k( ·), of f(·). Approximate solutions are given for the cases in which no exact solution exists. The theory is applied to nonlinear measurement-error models as a means of finding unbiased score functions when measurement error is normally distributed. Relative efficiencies comparing the proposed method to the use of conditional scores (Stefanski and Carroll, 1987) are given for the Poisson regression model with canonical link.

结构材料重点核素^60Ni的共振参数评价

利用多能级Breit-Wigner公式对^60Ni的全截面进行了计算，并将计算结果与BNL－325（四版）进行比较。利用实验核数据库EXFOR提供的全截面数据及实验条件，对^60Ni的可分辩区实验全截面进行了评价，推荐出一套可用于校验共振参数的实验全截面数据并与计算结果进行了比较。     

语言问题的理论思索

从功能的角度考察语言的本质 ,是诸多著作理解语言性质的哲学基础。功能论固然看到了语言对于人类社会的决定性作用 ,然而却丝毫未触及语言自身的结构特征和机制。仅从功能的角度认识语言是不够的 ,还必须深入到语言结构内部 ,对语言的特征、机制及结构体系进行多角度观察 ,才能较为完整地揭示语言的本质
