Parent‐Child Value Similarity: The Role of Zeitgeist

Reporting a study of German 2‐child families, the article focuses on a neglected issue in value transmission studies: contemporaneous societal context. Parent‐child value similarity depends not only on family characteristics but also on zeitgeist, the modal value climate of a society. To evaluate the role of zeitgeist in value transmission, differences in parent‐child value similarity between families agreeing and disagreeing with the zeitgeist are studied, focusing on a core value of modern societies: hierarchic self‐interest. Results show a weak general zeitgeist effect. A family’s relative position vis‐à‐vis the societal value climate, however, is shown to strongly influence intergenerational similarity in hierarchic self‐interest, families distant from the zeitgeist showing a much higher intergenerational value similarity than families close to the zeitgeist.

大学生社会交往能力的现状与分析——以浙江海洋学院为例

针对大学生社会交际能力的现状,结合浙江海洋学院在校学生的特点和普遍关注的问题,设计调查问卷,并作随机抽样调查与分析。结果发现,学生的总体社会交际能力处于中等水平,量化后的综合平均得分为77.1分,仍存在某些明显的薄弱环节。     

晚清本土钱庄和外商银行的互动性分析

在中国传统社会向近代社会转轨的过程中,中国传统的金融行业钱庄同外国资本主义在华金融机构外商银行在特定时代不可避免地发生了激烈碰撞,必然地形成社会经济的互动关系。它们之间的互动常常表现为合作、依附、竞争、冲突。本土钱庄与外商银行的互动关系,正是中西经济文化冲突的一个缩影和案例。

在健美操教学与训练中,如何使健美操音乐与动作造型和谐搭配,使音乐与表现力相互拉动,是提高健美操表现力的关键。文章在分析健美操音乐特征和影响大学生健美操表现力因素的基础上,提出了用音乐促进表现力,使音乐与动作和谐搭配,“声”与“形”相互促进、相得益彰的思考。     

Work-home interaction from a work psychological perspective: Development and validation of a new questionnaire, the SWING

This paper reports on the stepwise development of a new questionnaire for measuring work-home interaction, i.e. the Survey Work-home Interaction—NijmeGen, the SWING). Inspired by insights from work psychology, more specifically from Effort-Recovery Theory (Meijman & Mulder, 1998), we defined work-home interaction by differentiating between the direction and quality of influence. Four types of work-home interaction were distinguished and measured by using 22 (including 13 self-developed) items. By using data from five independent samples (total N=2472), validity evidence was provided based on the internal structure of the questionnaire. The results showed that the questionnaire reliably measured four empirically distinct types of work-home interaction, and that this four-dimensional structure was largely invariant across the five samples as well as across relevant subgroups. Validity evidence was also provided based on the relations with external (theoretically relevant) variables (i.e. job characteristics, home characteristics, and indicators of health and well-being). The results generally supported the hypothesized relationships of these external variables with negative work-home interaction. Less support was found, however, for the hypothesized relationships with positive work-home interaction. This contributes to current literature as it employs a relatively broad conceptualization of work-home interaction and offers a promising tool that measures its multiple components across a wide variety of workers.     

Language attitudes in interaction1

This paper discusses the observation of language attitudes in interaction and argues that these approaches provide invaluable insights for the study of language attitudes. In the first half of the paper, the three different kinds of discourse‐based methods of analysis that scholars have used to analyse language attitudes (content‐based approaches, turn‐internal semantic and pragmatic approaches, and interactional approaches) are discussed. In the second half, then, the third of these approaches is used to illustrate such an analysis with four stretches of conversation in different contexts. In the end, the argument is put forward that discourse‐based approaches in general and interactional approaches in particular should be viewed as at least as fundamental to language attitude research as more commonly used quantitative methods of analysis, since the former can provide the researcher with insights that the latter do not.
