Assessing Observer Effects on the Fidelity of Implementation of Functional Analysis Procedures

Instructing and training others to implement functional analysis (FA) procedures can be a cumbersome and time-consuming task. Students and practitioners are required to learn all of the various components to establish conditions and analyze results while also learning to conduct the sessions. The current study assessed the fidelity of individuals implementing FA conditions after observing and rating the fidelity of videos models, using a multiple-baseline design across FA conditions. Video models of each condition were provided throughout; however, participants were only asked to provide fidelity ratings for one video. Results demonstrated the intervention was successful in increasing participant performance above baseline levels for 16 of 17 participants, with 7 participants requiring an additional intervention in which they were asked to observe their own performance. Further research should evaluate the degree to which this procedure may effectively prepare individuals working with non-confederate children and carry over to other responses and settings.

文章回顾了欧美影视人类学的兴起及其发展历程,就人类学这一分支研究先驱者的工作成果作出真实的推介,并介绍了新中国成立前先辈们在实际工作中运用摄像机去捕捉具体民族社区的活动情景所取得的可喜成果.作者强调文化人类学研究中的田野调查要十分重视现代声像记录工具,并建议对已经面世的1000部人类学影片进行一次甄别工作,消除人类学影片中的"两张皮"现象,正确传播文化人类学知识.

本文把电影《花腰新娘》作为人类学"文化批评"的一个文本,将其看做现代传媒文化对民族传统文化的一种阐释,并从人类学的角度对这种阐释做了分析.文章考察当地人(花腰彝)如何解读电影中关于他们的文化和生活的信息,如何表达他们对其中的意识形态的态度,又如何围绕媒体来组织他们的社会文化活动及经济活动.文章同时提出了民族文化传媒化过程中需要进一步思考的一些问题.     

Stages of Change Theory in Family Therapy for Sibling Sexual Assault

Family therapy understands the benefits of therapeutically supported dialogue amongst family members when there are challenging themes and topics that need to be discussed. This paper is an attempt to explore ways that family therapists can work with family members who are thrust into therapy rather than ‘voluntarily’ signing up for it. It applies ideas from the drug and alcohol field such as Stages of Change theory and Motivational Interviewing. The paper explores how these ideas and approaches might help family therapists to formulate a concept of resistance and to make helpful dialogue more likely. They are applied to families experiencing sibling sexual assault, where they become involved with a legal response that necessitates a therapeutic intervention.     

Sex and the City and Consumer Culture: Remediating Postfeminist Drama

This essay analyzes the video games in the popular Diner Dash franchise, paying specific attention to the games' protagonist Flo. While on its surface, the series appears to be a number of simple games about a waitress, they reflect more complex themes about gender, empowerment, work, and play. Ultimately, I argue that the game series can be seen as an open-ended (producerly) text that invites several possible interpretations (and negotiations) of femininity. By understanding the games in this open-ended manner, we are able to see how different meanings can potentially reinforce beliefs about feminism and femininity with women players—rather than advocating specific kinds of feminisms, means to empowerment, or lifestyles. All of these issues coexist simultaneously within the Dash games, creating a rich potential for media studies analysis, and a better understanding of women's leisure.
