In this paper, the Bahadur representation of sample quantiles for ψ-mixing sequences is obtained under the given conditions. As its application, the uniformly asymptotic normality is derived.     

“From cause to cure”: A qualitative study on contemporary forms of mother blaming experienced by mothers of young children with autism spectrum disorder

ABSTRACT

In the past, the behaviours and personalities of mothers have been identified as potential causes of autism. More recently, other etiological hypotheses have been used to explain autism spectrum disorder, suggesting that this specific type of mother-blaming is now uncommon. However, some authors have pointed out that mothers are still being held responsible for their children’s condition and behaviours, as they are now expected to extensively promote their children’s development. The present article explores contemporary forms of mother-blaming experienced by thirteen mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder. The results are discussed in relation to the consequences of mother-blaming, such as social isolation and health related problems. It is hoped that this article will encourage social workers and professionals to understand the mothers’ perspectives and to recognize the importance of supporting them without generating or increasing mother-blaming.

Two separate effects of variance heterogeneity on the validity and power of significance tests of location

Heterogeneity of variances of treatment groups influences the validity and power of significance tests of location in two distinct ways. First, if sample sizes are unequal, the Type I error rate and power are depressed if a larger variance is associated with a larger sample size, and elevated if a larger variance is associated with a smaller sample size. This well-established effect, which occurs in t and F tests, and to a lesser degree in nonparametric rank tests, results from unequal contributions of pooled estimates of error variance in the computation of test statistics. It is observed in samples from normal distributions, as well as non-normal distributions of various shapes. Second, transformation of scores from skewed distributions with unequal variances to ranks produces differences in the means of the ranks assigned to the respective groups, even if the means of the initial groups are equal, and a subsequent inflation of Type I error rates and power. This effect occurs for all sample sizes, equal and unequal. For the t test, the discrepancy diminishes, and for the Wilcoxon–Mann–Whitney test, it becomes larger, as sample size increases. The Welch separate-variance t test overcomes the first effect but not the second. Because of interaction of these separate effects, the validity and power of both parametric and nonparametric tests performed on samples of any size from unknown distributions with possibly unequal variances can be distorted in unpredictable ways.

文章运用朱莉安·豪斯的"翻译质量评估模式"分析了黄源深译《道连·格雷的画像》,不仅尝试在实践中验证该模式,还对黄译本进行了评估。通过分析认为,黄译本基本属于显性翻译,原文和译文符合度很高,是一部质量上乘的译本。

水悬浮法制备GF/PVC复合材料的加工性能的研究

考察了用不同悬浮液体系制备的复合材料的力学性能与模压温度、时间和压力的关系 ,并用扫描电子显微镜对复合材料中纤维 基体间的孔隙进行观察 ,结果发现 :在水悬浮法制备的GF PVC复合材料中 ,悬浮液中的高分子粘结剂对材料的加工性能有一定的影响 ,悬浮液中的Ⅰ ,Ⅱ及Ⅳ号高分子粘结剂能在一定的程度上改善PVC树脂的流动性 ,特别是Ⅳ号高分子粘结剂对体系的加工性能改善效果最好
