Communicating Food Risks in an Era of Growing Public Distrust: Three Case Studies

The communication and regulation of risk has changed significantly over the past 30 years in Europe and to a noticeable but lesser extent in the United States. In Europe, this is partly due to a series of regulatory mishaps, ranging from mad cow disease in the United Kingdom to contamination of the blood supply in France. In the United States, general public confidence in the American government has been gradually declining for more than three decades, driven by a mix of cultural and political conflicts like negative political advertising, a corrosive news media, and cuts in regulatory budgets. While the former approach is based on an objective assessment of the risk, the latter is driven more by the perception of the risk, consumer sentiment, political will, and sectoral advocacy. In this article, the author examines three U.S.‐based food case studies (acrylamide, bisphenol A, and artificial food colorings) where regulations at the local and state levels are increasingly being based on perceived risk advocacy rather than on the most effective response to the risk, be it to food safety or public health, as defined by regulatory interpretation of existing data. In the final section, the author puts forward a series of recommendations for how U.S.‐based regulators can best handle those situations where the perceived risk is markedly different from the fact‐based risk, such as strengthening the communication departments of food regulatory agencies, training officials in risk communication, and working more proactively with neutral third‐party experts.

以项羽、刘邦这对人物形象为例，分析了司马迁心目中理想男性形象的性格特征，并考察了司马迁描写这些历史人物叙事过程中的理想愿望与现实当中的种种不足，进而分析出司马迁对这种困境或困惑的处理方式：“一手两笔”，体现出其塑造人物手法的高超。     

Factores individuales,familiares y educativos asociados al consumo de alcohol en jóvenes

Resumen

El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la relación entre el consumo de alcohol en jóvenes y diversos factores de riesgo individuales (patrón de conducta Tipo A, autoestima), familiares (satisfacción con el entorno familiar, nivel de estudios de los padres y nivel socioeconómico familiar percibido) y educativos (rendimiento académico y satisfacción con los estudios). La muestra estuvo configuradapor 413 jóvenes de 18 a 20 años, quienes respondieron distintas escalas e instrumentos relativos a las variables estudiadas. Se obtuvieron diferencias significativas entre consumidores y no consumidores de alcohol en las dimensiones de impaciencia, hostilidad, rendimiento académico y satisfacción con los estudios, en el sentido de que los jóvenes que consumen alcohol diaria o sema- nalmentepresentan, respecto a los no consumidores, mayores niveles de hostilidad e impaciencia, menor rendimiento académico y menor satisfacción respecto a los estudios. Finalmente, los resultados obtenidos a través de análisis de regresión logística indican que las variables psicosociales que mejor predicen el consumo de alcohol son el nivel de impaciencia y el rendimiento académico.     

基于TMS320LF2407的LED显示屏的设计

文章设计了一种LED显示屏系统,控制系统采用TI公司的数字信号处理器TMS320LF2407作为主控制器,采用通用分组无线服务技术的方式与手机或信息平台进行数字通信,方便远程控制,同时通过CAN总线方便构成大型LED显示屏.实验证明:该方案结构合理、稳定,操作方便、灵活,环境适应能力强,价格低廉,具有广泛的应用前景.     

网络渠道交易价值的实证分析——以L品牌手机淘宝BtoC店为例

以国产手机著名品牌L品牌淘宝BtoC店为例,按入口时搜索的关键词的特点,将来访顾客分成渠道忠诚访客和品牌忠诚访客,连续30天观察总的页面浏览量、2种类型的访客数量、分别带来的成交量,以及每日询盘量。对渠道忠诚顾客带来的成交占总成交的比例进行均值估计,得知其比例为38.3%;对2类访客与相应的成交量分别作回归分析,结论均为有显著影响。文章在此基础上对提高网店价值,提出了相应的建议。     

On small sample properties of the mixed regression predictor under misspecification

This paper relaxes the Mittelhammer's (1981) assumption that the value of the true variance is known in the mixed regression model and examines the small sample, properties of the feasible mixed regression predictor under misspecification. The paper shows that the feasible mixed regression predictor is not always superior to the ordinary least squares predictor in terms of the weak mean square error when there exist omitted variables in the model. Further it shows that misspecificstion works favorably for the ordinary least squares predictor.     

基于DDS和FPGA的多功能信号发生器设计

根据直接数字频率合成技术,以FPGA为核心,设计了一种便携式多功能信号发生器,可产生正弦波、方波、三角波、锯齿波等信号。通过仿真及硬件实验表明,该信号发生器具有信号频率误差小、分辨率高、体积小、质量轻等优点。
