H2O2／Fe^2＋光催化氧化法去除活性染料废水色度的研究

应用H2O2／Fe^2 光助催化氧化方法，对模拟活性染料废水和实际活性染料废水脱色作用进行研究，探讨了控制条件和影响因素。结果表明，该法对活性染料废水有很好的脱色效果，紫外光对脱色有催化作用。     

时滞交联系统的H_∞滤波设计

基于T-S模糊模型方法,针对一类时滞交联系统,提出了一种集中H∞滤波设计新方案.通过构造新的模糊线积分李雅普诺夫泛函,给出了整体滤波误差系统时滞相关的集中H∞滤波设计LMI条件,降低了性能指标的保守性.最后通过仿真例子说明了所提方法的有效性和优越性.

Union–intersection principle and constrained statistical inference

Most statistical models arising in real life applications as well as in interdisciplinary research are complex in their designs, sampling plans, and associated probability laws, which in turn are often constrained by inequality, order, functional, shape or other restraints. Optimality of conventional likelihood ratio based statistical inference may not be tenable here, although the use of restricted or quasi-likelihood has spurred in such environments. S.N. Roy's ingenious union–intersection principle provides an alternative avenue, often having some computational advantages, increased scope of adaptability, and flexibility beyond conventional likelihood paradigms. This scenario is appraised here with some illustrative examples, and with some interesting problems of inference on stochastic ordering (dominance) in parametric as well as beyond parametric setups.     

Regression models for analyzing clustered binary and continuous outcomes under an assumption of exchangeability

Scientific experiments commonly result in clustered discrete and continuous data. Existing methods for analyzing such data include the use of quasi-likelihood procedures and generalized estimating equations to estimate marginal mean response parameters. In applications to areas such as developmental toxicity studies, where discrete and continuous measurements are recorded on each fetus, or clinical ophthalmologic trials, where different types of observations are made on each eye, the assumption that data within cluster are exchangeable is often very reasonable. We use this assumption to formulate fully parametric regression models for clusters of bivariate data with binary and continuous components. The regression models proposed have marginal interpretations and reproducible model structures. Tractable expressions for likelihood equations are derived and iterative schemes are given for computing efficient estimates (MLEs) of the marginal mean, correlations, variances and higher moments. We demonstrate the use the ‘exchangeable’ procedure with an application to a developmental toxicity study involving fetal weight and malformation data.     

Some properties of a linear combination CUSUM statistic for controlling a multivariate mean vector

We develop a class of new multivariate procedures for monitoring quality by detecting a change in the level of a multivariate process. Following the ideas of S.N. Roy, we first consider a linear combination statistic which results from projecting the multivariate observations onto a unit vector and then maximizing a selected univariate statistic over all directions.

Inequality of opportunity in the United Kingdom, 1991–2008

We investigate the extent to which the tax-and-transfer system of the United Kingdom equalizes opportunities for income attainment among citizens. Within the framework of Roemer’s theory of Equality of Opportunity, and using individual data from the British Household Panel Survey from 1991 to 2008, we calculate the tax rates necessary to equalize opportunities for different circumstances. We provide a ranking of these circumstances by the degree to which they influence income attainment. Although pre-fisc equality of opportunity increases over time, the tax rate necessary to equalize opportunities remains higher than the observed tax rate. Only under a relatively high labour supply elasticity the observed UK tax rate fares well in equalizing opportunities for income attainment.     

On the determinants of public infrastructure spending in Chinese cities: A spatial econometric perspective

In the context of fiscal decentralization, we use cross-sectional data of 242 Chinese cities in 2005 to explore the major factors contributing to the decline of public investment. The main finding is that a city government appears to reduce its own infrastructure spending as a response to the rise of infrastructure spending of its neighboring cities, revealing evidence of positive spillover effects of public infrastructure expenditure. This paper contributes to the existing literature by providing a new perspective for understanding the decline in public investment. In addition, this paper sheds some light on the ongoing debate on the nature of government competition in China and has important implications for policy makers in making fiscal arrangements among government tiers in a decentralized economy.
