语言的学习和文化的学习是密不可分的.本文通过阐述英语课程中英美文化教学同语言教学的密切关系,指出英美文化的教学意义和教学过程,并提出了文化教学的不足之处和相应措施.

英国18世纪著名小说家笛福,是处在资本主义上升时期的伟大作家,由于其生活的社会背景影响其文学作品中的人物体现了明显的经济个人主义特征,其笔下的人物大都家庭关系简单,视金钱为最大的追求,重视契约和账目,追求个人生活的独立。     

经济危机时期英国的移民报道及其对中国的启示——从广州媒体报道非洲黑人说起

2009年7月15日广州黑人冲击派出所，以及随后网上对《东方天使》的参赛者“黑女孩”娄婧的一些讨论，使得黑人群体受到全国媒体乃至世界媒体的关注，境外媒体称“中国首次爆发了有关种族歧视的不同寻常的公开讨论”，“中国人对黑人抱有天真的种族主义”。与此同时，移民大国——英国国内关于移民的讨论也达到了白热化的程度，移民报道在文化与政治领域的重要性得到了前所未有的关注。通过分析经济危机时期英国媒体的移民报道策略、成因和危害，并与中国媒体的黑人报道做简单比较，以期为正在走向世界的中国传媒以启示。     

The rise of living alone and loneliness in history

This article connects two current debates: the rise of single-person households or of ‘solitaries’, and the so-called ‘loneliness epidemic’. It raises questions about how these are associated, via social-science literature on loneliness as a social, contextual and subjective experience, and findings in that literature about the relevance of lone-person households. The article is concerned to explore the history of living alone as a form of family structure, via analysis of European, North American and Japanese pre-industrial and industrial listings of inhabitants, and the post-1851 British censuses to 2011. It also does this cartographically via British mapping of lone-person households in 1851, 1881, 1911 and 2011. It documents dramatic rise across many countries in single-person households during the twentieth century, notably since the 1960s. Many pre-industrial settlements had no single-person households, and the average was around 5 percent of households. The current western proportions of such households (e.g. 31 percent in the UK) are wholly unprecedented historically, even reaching to 60 percent or more of households in some modern European and North American cities. The discussion examines this trend – which has very wide ramifications – and raises issues about its relevance for modern problems of loneliness as a social and welfare concern.     

From mood to movement: English nationalism,the European Union and taking back control†

This article considers whether the 2016 EU referendum can be perceived as an English nationalist movement. Specifically, attention is given to examining how memories of the former British Empire were nostalgically enveloped in anxieties regarding England’s location within the devolved UK state. The comments and work of Enoch Powell and George Orwell are used to help explore the link between nostalgia and anxiety in accounts of English nationalism. Despite their opposing political orientations, when considered together, it is argued that both men provide a unique cross-political perspective on Englishness, empire and nostalgia. By way of exploring these themes in relation to the EU referendum, Aughey’s assertion that English nationalism can be perceived as both a “mood” and “movement” is used to highlight how a sense of English anxiety regarding its lack of national sovereignty (mood), as well as a desire to reclaim this sovereignty by renegotiating trade relations with the “Anglo-sphere” (movement), were conjoined in the popular referendum slogan, “take back control”. In conclusion, it is argued that the contextualization of the referendum can be predicated upon an orientation to empire that steers away from glorifying pro-imperial images of England/Britain, towards a more positive and progressive appropriation of the EU referendum as a statement of national change and belonging.

1970年代的英国工党与工会关系可以分为前期和中后期两个阶段。在工党在野的前期,二者关系逐步改善,相对融洽;在工党执政的中后期,二者关系逐步恶化,矛盾尖锐。二者关系的这种特点既与工党地位不同追求目标不同有关,也与保守党的工会政策和英国经济状况有关。从工党与工会的相互影响看,工会对工党的影响更大,工会是影响工党在1970年代政坛沉浮的重要变量。从二者关系对工党与工会各自的影响看,历经1970年代,工党与工会在关系复好与逆转的轮回中两败俱伤。     

两个世界之间——考德威尔艺术观初探

考德威尔是 2 0世纪 30年代英国很有影响的马克思主义文论家。他以马克思主义的实践哲学为理论基础 ,对艺术的本质特征与功能作了深刻的探讨。认为艺术的本质是“对情感的社会性安排”,是内在心灵与外在环境两个世界之间主客体交融而形成的“自由”的“社会意象”。人在艺术的理想的社会意象中进行人与人、人与自然的“对话”,从而实现对自我和世界的双重塑造     

Questioning Heteronormativity: Lesbian and gay challenges to education practice in British Columbia,Canada

This paper explores social movement organizing within social institutions, using the cases of the Surrey book banning and the Trinity Western University, two cases of activist litigation in British Columbia, Canada. In these cases, lesbian and gay teacher activists challenged heteronormative constructions in educational practices, in one case by introducing lesbian and gay-positive reading materials in the elementary grades, in the other by challenging the right of an evangelical university to train teachers for the public education system. In the context of the existing literatures on social movements within institutions and challenges to education practices, the paper emphasizes two main conclusions: 1) challenges to educational practice may be mounted by teachers themselves, despite their professional and 'insider' status and 2) a range of different types of relationships are possible between social movement challenges within social institutions and social movements outside of institutions. In the cases presented here, the strategies, discourses and frames of 'insider' challenges to educational practices were drawn from the teacher-activists' location as part of the broader legally focused Canadian lesbian and gay movement.

文章从海德格尔存在主义视角出发,依据＂周围世界＂＂共在世界＂与＂自身世界＂的三重结构世界理论,对英美海洋小说中的人类生存困境进行分类与梳理。认为随时代的发展,作品对生存困境的探索逐渐深化,由探索人与物的关系,演变为探索人与物、人与人的双重关系;之后发生质的飞跃,由生存探索进入存在探索,着力于探索超脱于物与人的虚无,进而寻求虚无与现实的结合点,对依然身处困境的当代人的生存探索具有积极的借鉴意义。     

英美文学课程实践型教学模式探析

英美文学课程是英语专业学生的必修课程。构建以学生为中心的、由“原文本阅读、自选课题研究、小组合作陈述、戏剧表演”等组成的“四位一体”的实践型教学模式，既有利于学生语言素质的加强与知识面的拓宽，也有助于学生思辨能力的提高与人文素质的培养，从而有利于促进学生的全面发展。
