MSW Student Experiences in Online vs. Face-to-Face Teaching Formats?

Institutions of higher education have embraced online formats as a new form of teaching in order to reach more students. Like other disciplines, social work pedagogy has embraced the use of online technology in higher education. As a professional and ethical responsibility, it is imperative that social work online courses are of high quality and that they meet the stated objectives. The study presented here describes students' perceptions and experiences in online and in-classroom sections in the Theories and Practice with Communities and Agencies course at a large public university in Southeastern USA. A survey was administered to the students at the end of the semester. Qualitative themes show that method of instruction as it related to course content, comfort with the level of instruction, and role of instructor in online courses affected students' perceptions of both the course and method of instruction. Discussions are directed toward improving online instruction in social work education.     

A Method of Assembling Cross-sectional Indicators into a Community Quality of Life

This study develops a new method of measuring quality of life at the local and state level. Further, it presents a methodology that combines heterogeneous indicators from different fields, such as economics, social, and health, into one total measurement. The technique shown can be used to compare one region with another, or compare one metro area with its own performance through time. The analysis shows which categories and indicators are ranked as the highest and serves as a measurement of economic development and potential targets for marketing plans. Every analyst interested in an aggregate, community measurement tool should be interested in the procedure and results.     

A Comprehensive Action Plan Information System: A Tool for Tracking and Mapping Quality of Life Action Implementation and Planning

Since its inception, the Community-University Institute for Social Research (CUISR) has been involved in a participatory process aimed at understanding the quality of life in Saskatoon. Informed by the results of Quality of Life (QoL) survey in 2001 and by a list of QoL action priorities from a community forum, the CUISR QoL module set out to survey community work on QoL action planning and implementation. In collaboration with a steering committee of community-based professionals, CUISR developed a methodology for managing and analyzing QoL initiatives related to community action implementation and planning. The Community Action Plan Information System (CAPIS) is the result of this process. CAPIS is a compendium, an analysis, and a purposive contextualization of QoL actions and recommendations from collaborative action plan documents, focused on the Saskatoon community. This paper provides a detailed examination of the concept and components of the Comprehensive Action Plan Information System (CAPIS), as well as the process and outcomes of a sampling of the QoL statement analysis and mapping project. The paper concludes by projecting how the CAPIS could evolve into a fully operational QoL strategic action plan and gap indicator, providing the foundation for a knowledge based, informed, reporting mechanism on the state and evolution of QoL action and policy.

需求取向的社区服务--上海市浦东新区售后公房及中低档商品房社区服务研究

伴随着我国经济的快速发展与社会的加速转型,不同社区的居民对社区服务需求的差异性日益凸现,传统的"一刀切"的社区服务模式已无法适应新的社会发展要求.针对不同类型社区的居民社区服务需求之不同,开展不同模式的社区服务,成为目前深化社区建设的重要途径.本文通过对浦东新区售后公房及中低档商品房社区的深入调研,了解居民多样化的服务需求与当前社区服务提供之间的差距,发现现行社区服务缺陷与不足,进而探索在此类社区中社区服务的实现模式.     

刑罚执行与社会福利：社区矫正性质定位思辨

有关社区矫正的单一的刑罚执行性质说,虽然是国内理论界最流行的论述,但是在实践中已经越来越陷入困局.笔者尝试从人类刑罚观念和刑罚制度历史变迁、社区矫正试点工作的目的与任务,以及社会福利与社会工作相互关系等三个角度,阐明社区矫正的双重性质定位:刑罚执行与社会福利.     

村社理性：资本下乡与社区发展---基于皖北T镇两个村庄的对比

“资本下乡”成为当前村庄发展的主流模式,不可控的“资本下乡”将带来村社利益格局的剧烈变动,对乡村治理造成危害.以“村社理性”为实践原则的发展模式能够使村社共同体成为应对“资本下乡”的保护机制.通过皖北两村的比较可知,在以村社理性为主导的发展模式下,村社共同体利益能够最大化地得以保持,免受资本与国家的过度攫取,发展过程最节省交易成本,发展利益也能在社区内最大化,发展模式成本最低.     

理想社区的社会表征:北京市居民的社区观念研究

文章选择以北京市城市社区为研究对象,通过对问卷调查中两个开放性问题进行的质性文本分析,发现社区居民对理想社区的社会表征主要包括社区环境、社区理念及社区参与三个主要维度。三类社区居民在社区环境方面的看法和要求没有本质上的差异,但在社区理念与社区参与两个方面差异显著。     

感知契合度对老字号品牌延伸态度的影响——消费者创新性的调节效应研究

选择具有中国文化特色的老字号品牌为研究对象,通过一系列的预测试,选取了"全聚德"和"便宜坊"两个母品牌以及月饼、汉堡、茶叶和咖啡四种感知契合度不同的虚拟延伸产品。设计了两个母品牌和四种延伸产品不同组合的八个版本的调研问卷,对老字号品牌延伸中消费者创新性的调节效应进行调研。通过大样本调研数据得出结论:延伸产品与母品牌之间的感知契合度正向影响老字号品牌延伸态度;消费者创新性反向调节感知契合度与品牌延伸态度之间的关系。     

老年人社区医疗服务的法律思考

满足老年人的医疗需求、提高老年人的生命质量不仅有助于“健康老龄化”目标的实现,更有利于社会的和谐与稳定。现阶段,由于法律法规不健全、制度设计不合理等原因,老年人社区医疗服务的作用不能有效发挥。应在分析和借鉴国外社区医疗服务相关法律和政策的基础上,从立法指导思想和具体制度设计的角度提出完善我国老年人社区医疗服务的对策。
