翻译研究中的批评话语分析:政治语篇的视角

政治语篇(包括译文)与权力密切关联。虽然翻译研究中对译文和权力(包括意识形态)之间的关系有所研究,但尚未提出严格基于语篇的系统性方法来描述政治语篇及其译文,因而,研究结果不能比较,政治语篇的译文的描述和分析不能统一。因此,文章提出,批评话语分析可作为描述政治语篇的译文的一个系统性的工具。     

Interactive Metal Fatigue: A Conceptual Contribution to Social Critique in Mobilities Research

The ‘mobilities turn’ has reinvigorated the social critique on the automobility system. Theorizing its profound reconfigurations of social life, relationist commitments invite a certain silence regarding the associated social pathologies, however. This article explores a critical-theoretical interpretation of the mobilities paradigm. It proposes the ‘interactive metal fatigue’ (IMF) concept, which theorizes the emergence of ‘interpassive’ social relations as socio-technical dialectics. Taking into account the contradictions that surround the critical-theoretical project, IMF paves the way for balanced critiques of mobilities. This will be shown through the case of Shared Space, an attempt to free public space from traffic management colonization.     

Critical race theory in England: impact and opposition

ABSTRACT

This paper examines the development of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in England, in terms of impact and opposition. Since the early 2000s CRT has become a significant intellectual space for race-conscious scholars and activists in England. The current paper traces the growth of CRT in the field of education (where it has had the greatest impact since its arrival). It identifies the academic research, writing, networks and events that have established CRT in England. It discusses the substantive concerns of English CRT and how these are both similar to and distinct from CRT as developed in the USA. In England, CRT has also met with opposition. This paper examines the discourses of derision voiced by its antagonists, arguing that much of this antagonism has an atavistic quality, being rooted in long-standing antipathy towards race-conscious social analyses.     

Foucault and the politics of critical management studies

This paper explores the different ways in which we read Foucault in management and organisation studies but, more particularly, some of the features of his project that we seem often to exclude. In the context of a growing interest in more ‘engaged’ forms of scholarly practice among management academics, we argue that further consideration of Foucault might have something more to offer. Setting the main arguments in context, we suggest an outline of the dominant ways in which we read Foucault: the identities we assign to him. Hence we know Foucault primarily as a social theorist, genealogist, neo‐Weberian, and postmodernist. We then consider some of the engaged aspects of his project, focusing on his emergence as an activist intellectual in the 1970s. Possible implications for critical management scholars are then considered.     

Knowledge brokering in public health: A critical analysis of the results of a qualitative evaluation

Empirical data on the processes underlying knowledge brokering (KB) interventions, including their determining factors and effects, remain scarce. Furthermore, these interventions are rarely built on explicit theoretical foundations, making their critical analysis difficult, even a posteriori. For these reasons, it appeared relevant to revisit the results of a qualitative evaluation undertaken in the province of Quebec in parallel with a Canada-wide randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluating various KB strategies in public health. This paper looks critically at the theoretical foundations of the KB interventions in light of two conceptual models: (1) the dissemination model underlying the KB interventions used in the Canadian trial and (2) a systemic KB model developed later. This critical analysis sheds light on the processes involved in KB interventions and the factors influencing their implementation and effects. The conclusions of the critical analysis are consistent with the systemic model, in which interpersonal contact is an essential condition for effective KB interventions. This analysis may advance knowledge in the field by enhancing our understanding of the role of knowledge brokers as essential mediators in KB processes and outcomes.     

Comparing Several Variances with a Control in Direction-mixed Families of Hypotheses

This article deals with simultaneous comparisons of k(k ? 1) populations with a control population with respect to variance in direction-mixed families of hypotheses. Computation of critical constants required for the implementation of the proposed procedures is discussed and selected values of the critical constants are tabulated. Power comparison of the proposed procedures with their existing competitors is carried out using Monte Carlo simulation. An example is given to illustrate the implementation of proposed procedures.     

当代西方“反幻觉”诗学的语言哲学基础及批判

反幻觉是当代西方诗学文化的一种重要的精神倾向,这种倾向最重要的语言哲学基础就是索绪尔的符号任意论。索绪尔以此打破了词与物天然对应的“神话”,揭破了人能控制语言的“迷梦”,促生了一种与传统的词物对应论相对立的“词物分裂论”,为当代西方反对实在论和主体性的幻觉,解构“自然”写作和终极意义的理想,强调写作“不及物”、“作者已死”、“暴露技巧”的反幻觉诗学提供了语言学根据和批判的武器。但这一批判的武器是一把“双刃剑”,在其革命性背后隐藏着一种既无关于科学评价又反人文精神的共时性范式和后现代情绪,已产生出不利于人类的诗化生存的东西。因此,批判的武器只有经过批判性反思,那种真正具有科学意义和人文精神的反幻觉诗学才能建立。     

Being the University: Liaison Persons' Reflections on Placements with Off-Site Supervision

Social work as a profession, social work practitioners and organisations, as well as social work educators are under strain due to global, economic, social and political changes and workplace pressures. Field education is recognised as pivotal in preparing social work students for professional practice. As social work practitioners, organisations and social work educators are exposed to external and internal pressures, social work practice learning with off-site supervision is becoming more prevalent. This paper reports on research that explored the experiences of key stakeholders in social work practice learning with external or, in other words, off-site supervision. This paper explores the experiences of university liaison persons who provided supported field education arrangements with off-site supervision. A range of themes have emerged, including reflections about bringing the university to the placement experience, creating student centred placement opportunities, the complexity of connecting the various players and the extra support and resources needed to support placements with off-site supervision. Findings suggest that quality learning experiences are about more than modes of supervision, that placements with off-site supervision increase the workload of liaison persons and that clear models and structures need to be developed to support emerging field education models.

Evaluation of the one-sided percentage points of the singular multivariate normal distribution

This paper presents a new theorem, as a substitute for existing results which are shown to have some errors, for evaluating the exact one-sided percentage points of the multivariate normal distribution with a singular negative product correlation structure. By extending the result from the multivariate normal distribution to the multivariate t-distribution with corresponding singular correlation structure, we tabulate the one-sided critical points for the Analysis of Means procedure.
