A Forecast Model to Assess the Critical Points in University Systems

The network of student transfers within the system of the University of Bologna adapts a constraint scale-free topology. Despite the presence of “hubs,” their role is strongly influenced by different institutional decisions and choices applied to courses. Therefore, the macro model of this network is not useful for previewing its evolution over time, particularly in the creation of critical points, which are courses with high out transfer rates. The idea is to introduce a probability of transfer function for each course, in order to preview the creation of critical points. The proposed model is fundamentally a binary regression logistic model. This rough model allows us to identify the possible creation of critical points in our complex system, these being “escape” courses, and to preview the impact of institutional decisions. At the same time, it may suggest how to remove the existing critical points in order to optimize the academic courses on offer.

实证主义在社会工作理论和实务的发展中发挥着重要的影响,而各种反实证主义思潮的论争则使社会工作有了更多视角和面向,在这其中批判诠释学是一支重要的力量。本文对实证主义传统下的社会工作模式进行了一些反思,在此基础上,讨论了批判诠释学对实证主义传统的批评和对社会工作理论和实务的影响。     

A General Behavior Model and New Definitions of Organizational Cultures

Current definitions of organization/corporate cultures overemphasize long-run equilibrium and underplay short-run dynamics; they stress commonalities and overlook diversities, underscore emic analyses and lose sights of etic analyses, and separate the intangible from the tangible; plus are “model unfriendly.” As an alternative approach addressing these problems, we propose a new General Behavioral Model (GBM) and then derive two new definitions of OC that view organizational cultures as [1] accumulated choices and [2] interactions among critical masses of people. Theoretical characteristics and managerial implications are discussed.

在法兰克福学派中最先涉及且发展出一套完整的通俗文化理论体系的思想家是洛文塔尔。与阿多诺相比,洛文塔尔为我们提供了另一种大众文化研究方法:站在批判理论的立场上,运用文学社会学的方法来剖析通俗文化问题。他对通俗文化所作的"跨学科研究"与其立场和方法论预设紧密联系。洛文塔尔沟通批判学派与经验学派的研究方法,将批判理论与文学社会学方法相会通与融合的尝试开创了通俗文化研究的新方法。     

Optimal Resource Allocation for Defense of Targets Based on Differing Measures of Attractiveness

This article describes the results of applying a rigorous computational model to the problem of the optimal defensive resource allocation among potential terrorist targets. In particular, our study explores how the optimal budget allocation depends on the cost effectiveness of security investments, the defender's valuations of the various targets, and the extent of the defender's uncertainty about the attacker's target valuations. We use expected property damage, expected fatalities, and two metrics of critical infrastructure (airports and bridges) as our measures of target attractiveness. Our results show that the cost effectiveness of security investment has a large impact on the optimal budget allocation. Also, different measures of target attractiveness yield different optimal budget allocations, emphasizing the importance of developing more realistic terrorist objective functions for use in budget allocation decisions for homeland security.

批评话语分析是话语分析的一个重要研究领域,研究以2006-2015年间Web of Science TM核心数据库中发表的SSCI期刊论文作为语料,运用CiteSpace可视化软件绘制了国际批评话语分析的科学知识图谱。通过探讨国际批评话语分析的总体趋势、研究热点主题词、重要成果影响力的聚类和演进,厘清了国际批评话语分析近10年发展的整体脉络,呈现了其最新研究进展和趋势,为未来国内的批评话语分析提供了启示。     

A closed testing procedure for comparing successive exponential populations with respect to location parameter

Consider k independent random samples such that i^th sample is drawn from a two-parameter exponential population with location parameter μ_i and scale parameter θ_i,?i = 1, …, k. For simultaneously testing differences between location parameters of successive exponential populations, closed testing procedures are proposed separately for the following cases (i) when scale parameters are unknown and equal and (ii) when scale parameters are unknown and unequal. Critical constants required for the proposed procedures are obtained numerically and the selected values of the critical constants are tabulated. Simulation study revealed that the proposed procedures has better ability to detect the significant differences and has more power in comparison to exiting procedures. The illustration of the proposed procedures is given using real data.
