Bayesian analysis of threshold autoregressions

A nonasymptotic Bayesian approach is developed for analysis of data from threshold autoregressive processes with two regimes. Using the conditional likelihood function, the marginal posterior distribution for each of the parameters is derived along with posterior means and variances. A test for linear functions of the autoregressive coefficients is presented. The approach presented uses a posterior p-value averaged over the values of the threshold. The one-step ahead predictive distribution is derived along with the predictive mean and variance. In addition, equivalent results are derived conditional upon a value of the threshold. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the approach.

The asymptotic distribution of a pivotal quantity for a capture-recapture model

A pivotal quantity for a capture-recapture model is introduced and used to construct an asymptotic confidence region for (ε,N), where ε is the capture efficiency and N is the population size. The true confidence levels of certain regions are obtained by simulation. Certain confidence regions for (ε,N) are drawn to show the size of the regions and to show how confidence limits for N depend on ε.

在西部大开发的5年中,西部地区产业结构的调整步伐逐渐加快,产业结构进一步升级并趋于合理。促进西部地区产业结构升级的因素有:包括中央投资在内的资金供给增长;居民收入水平提高后,消费结构升级以及对外贸易水平不断提高。为促进西部产业进一步升级,国家应大力改善投资环境,运用包括财政政策在内的一系列政策,带动西部特色产业的发展。

Simulation study of confidence regions for canonical variate analysis

Canonical variate analysis often involves the construction of confidence regions round points representing group means in a 2-dimensional plot. Traditionally circles have always been constructed, but some authors have recently advocated ellipses as being more appropriate. This paper describes a Monte Carlo study investigating the effect of a range of factors on the inclusion rates of true population means within both types of region for normal data. The traditional circles do not perform too badly within a restricted range, but they are nearly always under-included. The ellipses usually have higher inclusion rates, and so are often closer to the nominal rate, but are sometimes over-included.
