“透明的荒诞”与“纯洁的逻辑”——论《卡利古拉》中的暴虐启蒙

加缪戏剧主人公古罗马暴君卡利古拉对于"不可能之域"的追求,是以对价值领域里的"不可能性"的突破来代替对事实领域的"不可能性"的征服,两者的错位进一步凸显了存在的荒诞性。卡利古拉的所有暴行皆意在某种表达,这种表达采取了一贯的纯粹而执著的逻辑形式,以"求真去蔽"为目的,这一切构成某种关于存在之荒诞真相的"暴虐启蒙"。     

布斯的隐喻观与西方修辞学

韦恩·布斯是二十世纪美国修辞学界的知名学者，尤以小说修辞学著称。但布斯对隐喻的论述也颇具前瞻性。由于其修辞学家身份，其在阐述隐喻定义、评价等方面时难免不涉及一些诸如修辞情境、修辞动机、劝说等修辞学概念，这些概念的运用极大地充实了他的隐喻观。研究对韦恩·布斯的隐喻观作了梳理与分析，主要阐析了布斯对隐喻的概念本质、评价等方面的理解，分析了布斯的隐喻观与西方修辞学之间的内在关联，在此基础上评价了其理论贡献和局限。研究发现，布斯的隐喻观较具前瞻性，有深厚的西方修辞学底蕴，为后来的隐喻研究作了重要的铺垫。     

《蝴蝶君》的个人主体性研究

对于华裔美国作家黄哲伦舞台剧《蝴蝶君》的讨论,普遍着重于后殖民与性别的相关议题。本文则以个人的主体性为主要关注,并肯定本剧实为一出浪漫悲剧。试图借由黑格尔对于浪漫精神的定义与解说,用以诠释加利马在剧中的幡然醒悟,尤其是最后以死明志,透过否定的否定,在其内在的和解,亦即在绝对的精神主体里肯定自身的存在价值,体现黑格尔所谓的浪漫精神。     

A new two-parameter lifetime distribution with decreasing,increasing or upside-down bathtub-shaped failure rate

In this paper, we introduce a generalization of the Bilal distribution, where a new two-parameter distribution is presented. We show that its failure rate function can be upside-down bathtub shaped. The failure rate can also be decreasing or increasing. A comprehensive mathematical treatment of the new distribution is provided. The estimation by maximum likelihood is discussed, and a closed-form expression for Fisher’s information matrix is obtained. Asymptotic interval estimators for both of the two unknown parameters are also given. A simulation study is conducted and applications to real data sets are presented.     

Complete moment convergence and Lr convergence for asymptotically almost negatively associated random variables

In this paper, we investigate the complete moment convergence and L_r convergence for maximal partial sums of asymptotically almost negatively associated random variables under some general conditions. The results obtained in the paper generalize some corresponding ones for negatively associated random variables.     

Confidence distributions applied to propagating uncertainty to inference based on estimating the local false discovery rate: A fiducial continuum from confidence sets to empirical Bayes set estimates as the number of comparisons increases

Empirical Bayes estimates of the local false discovery rate can reflect uncertainty about the estimated prior by supplementing their Bayesian posterior probabilities with confidence levels as posterior probabilities. This use of coherent fiducial inference with hierarchical models generates set estimators that propagate uncertainty to varying degrees. Some of the set estimates approach estimates from plug-in empirical Bayes methods for high numbers of comparisons and can come close to the usual confidence sets given a sufficiently low number of comparisons.     

Influence measures in blocked designs of experiments with correlated errors

Diagnostics measures for detecting outliers in data from block designs of experiments with correlated errors are considered. Influence is often assessed by deleting suspected outlying observations. Autocorrelation of order one is considered to model correlation in each block. Cook-statistic is developed for detecting the effect of a single outlier, where results are illustrated with an example.
