普通医学翻译中的常见问题及对策

翻译是译者在具有不同规则的符号系统之间进行信息传递的文化活动,应尽最大可能使译文“忠实”于原作,作为科技英语之一的医学翻译也应遵循这一规则。但从现实情况看,译者们常会遇到各种各样的问题以至于不能使译文“忠实”于原作。本文仅就多数译者在从事普通医学翻译过程中所遇到的问题及对应策略进行分析研究。

Absence behaviour, turnover and disability: A study among city bus drivers in the Netherlands

Absenteeism, turnover and disability, and relationships between them have been studied among city bus drivers in the Netherlands. The theoretical framework for the study was a cumulative process model of work and health. Absenteeism among these drivers was two to three times as high as the national average, while the risk of disablement was more than twice as high as the risk for male Dutch civil servants in general. Bus drivers who had to leave their job for medical reasons did so at a younger age than other groups of civil servants. The main conditions leading to disablement related to the back, tendons and joints (35%), mental disorders (35%) and cardiovascular diseases (12%). It was shown that long-term absenteeism is a strong precursor of future disability. The research suggests a work-related process of progressive deterioration of health and well-being over a reasonably long period of time. Driving city buses seems to be an occupation with high risks for health and well-being.

An Efficient Estimation for Switching Regression Models: A Monte Carlo Study

This article investigates an efficient estimation method for a class of switching regressions based on the characteristic function (CF). We show that with the exponential weighting function, the CF-based estimator can be achieved from minimizing a closed form distance measure. Due to the availability of the analytical structure of the asymptotic covariance, an iterative estimation procedure is developed involving the minimization of a precision measure of the asymptotic covariance matrix. Numerical examples are illustrated via a set of Monte Carlo experiments examining the implementation, finite sample property and the efficiency of the proposed estimator.     

台湾地区失业人口特征分析

利用1992—2002年台湾地区人力资源相关数据,对台湾失业人口①状况进行了描述和分析,静态分析失业人口的绝对数量和相对构成并考察其性别、年龄和受教育程度方面表现出的特征及差异,动态分析和描述这11年来台湾失业人口的变动状况及发展趋势。认为失业问题的根本原因在于产业结构的变动,台湾当局执政角色的变化也制约了其经济发展,加剧了劳动力市场的结构性矛盾。     

The efficacy of early intervention programs for children with organic impairment: A quantitative review

The results of studies examining the effectiveness of early intervention for infants and children with organic impairment and developmental delay were reviewed using recently developed quantitative methods that treat the literature review process as a unique type of scientific inquiry. Thirty-eight studies meeting certain predetermined criteria were included in the review. The 38 studies contained a total of 118 statistical hypothesis tests that evaluated the effectiveness of early intervention. An analysis of these tests based on the calculation of effect sizes revealed that subjects receiving early intervention performed better on a wide range of dependent measures than subjects not receiving intervention. The outcomes were found to be related to several design and study characteristics. Larger effect sizes were associated with preexperimental designs, and also with studies in which the internal validity was rated as poor. Several other design variables such as how subjects were assigned to conditions and how the dependent measure was recorded were related to study outcome as measured by effect size. The conclusion was made that an accurate interpretation of the early intervention research literature cannot be made without consideration of specific design variables and study characteristics.

蛋白质谱数据的特征提取

变性蛋白质与正常对照组的蛋白质的HPLC-MS谱图存在人工无法发现的差异性,也是本文所说的特征,本文的研究工作就是通过信息学的方法寻找这些特征。实际工作中,我们先从谱图中提取数据,重新采样,并且对采样数据进行基线校正,归一化,噪声降解,得到预处理好的数据集。然后利用遗传算法来最优化结果,找到了变性蛋白质的特征谱线。我们期望根据这些特征建立未知蛋白质的分类模型,为疾病的诊断提供依据。
