THE GENERALIZED HARMONIC MEAN AND A PORTFOLIO PROBLEM WITH DEPENDENT ASSETS

McEntire (1984) proved that, for a portfolio problem with independent assets, the generalized harmonic mean plays the role of a risk-free threshold. Based upon this property, he developed a criterion for including or excluding assets in an optimal portfolio, and he proved an ordering theorem showing that an optimal portfolio always consists of positive amounts of the assets with the largest mean values. Also, some commonly used utility functions were shown to satisfy the property that the dominance of an asset over another is unaffected by the addition of other assets. In this paper we extend these results to the case where assets are dependent.

从入乐的角度来说,＂竹枝词＂创作原本就是古代巴楚《竹枝》乐歌的歌辞记录。在歌声形态方面,古代巴楚《竹枝》乐歌于传唱过程中就出现过单曲短歌、由若干单曲连缀而成的联章之歌、由若干单曲连缀且具备＂艳＂、＂解＂的联章之歌等几种主要的类型,而这些歌声形态都对《竹枝》歌辞文本形式的定型产生了重要的影响。     

基于AVR单片机温度控制的硬件电路设计研究

为了控制某温度场的变化,本文设计了基于AVR单片机ATmega16的硬件电路,选用半导体温度传感器DS18B20进行温度的采集,并由LED数码管显示,键盘输入预设值的调整,通过继电器输出完成加热开关占空比的调控,实现该温度场的恒温控制。     

On batch queueing systems: A combinatorial approach

We consider batch queueing systems M/M^H/1$M/M^H/1$ and M^H/M/1$M^H/M/1$ with catastrophes. The transient probability functions of these queueing systems are obtained by a Lattice Path Combinatorics approach that utilizes randomization and dual processes. Steady state distributions are also determined. Generalization to systems having batches of different sizes are discussed.

Modified tables for the selection of qss–1 quick switching system for a given (aql,lql)

This paper presents a set of new tables and procedures for the selection of the following three types of Quick Switching (QS) systems for a given Acceptable Quality Level (AQL), Limiting Quality Level (LQL), producer's risk and consumer's risk.

(1) A Single sampling QS system with equal sample sizes but with different acceptance numbers

(2) A Single sampling QS system with two different sample sizes but with same acceptance number and

(3) A QS systen with double sampling normal inspection and single sampling tightened inspection

The third type of QS systen is the one newly presented in this paper. The tables provide unique plans for a given set of conditions as well as providing a smaller sample size or a smaller sum of Average Sample Numbers(ASN) at the AQL and LQL     

Conditional Density Estimation in the Single Functional Index Model for α-Mixing Functional Data

In this article, we investigate the nonparametric estimation of the conditional density of a scalar response variable Y, given the explanatory variable X taking value in a Hilbert space when the observations are linked with a single index structure. The goal of this article is to present the asymptotic results such as pointwise almost complete consistency and the uniform almost complete convergence of the kernel estimation with rate for the conditional density in the setting of the α-mixing functional data, which extend the i.i.d case in Attaoui et al. (2011 Attaoui , S. , Laksaci , A. , Ould-Said , E. ( 2011 ). A note on the conditional density estimate in the single functional index model . Statist. Probab. Lett. 81 ( 1 ): 45 – 53 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] , [Google Scholar]) to the dependence setting. As an application, the convergence rate of the kernel estimation for the conditional mode is also obtained.     

Comparative Statics,Informativeness, and the Interval Dominance Order

We identify a new way to order functions, called the interval dominance order, that generalizes both the single crossing property and a standard condition used in statistical decision theory. This allows us to provide a unified treatment of the major theorems on monotone comparative statics with and without uncertainty, the comparison of signal informativeness, and a non‐Bayesian theorem on the completeness of increasing decision rules. We illustrate the concept and results with various applications, including an application to optimal stopping time problems where the single crossing property is typically violated.     

A Note on Multiple Regression for Single Index Model

Abstract

A simple method based on sliced inverse regression (SIR) is proposed to explore an effective dimension reduction (EDR) vector for the single index model. We avoid the principle component analysis step of the original SIR by using two sample mean vectors in two slices of the response variable and their difference vector. The theories become simpler, the method is equivalent to the multiple linear regression with dichotomized response, and the estimator can be expressed by a closed form, although the objective function might be an unknown nonlinear. It can be applied for the case when the number of covariates is large, and it requires no matrix operation or iterative calculation.
