Fostering benign Tibetan nationalism: Tibetan schooling passions in the Diaspora

ABSTRACT

Scholarship on the ‘manufacturing of citizenship’ has focused primarily on European and American nationalism. Scholars have noted the scarcity of research on identity construction among children in the Diaspora. This study explores the role of the altruistic principle and the Middle Way approach (a political strategy for the resolution of Sino-Tibetan issues) on the construction of nationalism amongst Tibetan children in Diaspora. The 2004 Basic Education Policy for Tibetans stresses the principle of ‘altruism’ in the identity construction of Tibetan children. Inclusive nationalism is germane in the schooling process. The study presents an interview analysis of four Tibetan Education Ministers about the intersection of altruistic principle, the Middle Way approach, and Tibetan nationalism. Additionally, 34 school children (14 boys and 20 girls) from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades participated in a drawing activity. The analysis of children’s ‘cultural artifacts of nationalism’ is also included. The study found that neither the Tibetan children nor the Ministers expressed any feeling of hatred or animosity towards Chinese nationals. The willingness and desire to co-exist in harmony with their counterparts were evident. The principle of altruism is deeply entrenched in the Middle Way approach and Tibetan nationalism.     

多元医疗背景下藏族民众择医实践的人类学分析——以甘孜藏族自治州C村为例

择医实践是指当一个人感到不适，为了证实是否有疾病和为了减少疾痛为目的寻求帮助的行为，是医学人类学研究主要课题之一。由于社会文化背景、地理条件等因素，藏族聚居地区医疗模式显现出多元共存，与之对应，当地民众的择医实践也呈现出一种多元状态。正是由于人们多元择医实践的诉求、固守与调适，才推进着多元医疗模式在发展中适应区域群体的文化变迁、需求改变而日趋完善，由此医疗模式与择医实践形成了互动、互构关系。

魏晋南北朝时翻译的佛经文献保存了当时出现的大量新词和新义,对汉语史的研究和辞书编纂有着重要意义。本文诠释了当时泽经中的几个词语。     

藏族传统司法制度初探

进入阶级社会之后,藏族地区便出现了法律。后历经千余年的发展演变,藏族传统法律及保证法律实施的司法制度不断得以充实、完善,并形成了一些独自的特点。通过对藏族传统司法制度形成、发展的历史轨迹及司法程序作了介绍和分析,旨在使更多的人对藏族传统司法制度有一个大致的了解。     

Ethical Comportment in Organizations: A Synthesis of The Feminist Ethic of Care and the Buddhist Ethic of Compassion

This article describes a mode of ethical behavior in organizations called ethical comportment that is the enactment of the principles of elements common to the feminist ethic of care and the Buddhist ethic of compassion. The paper outlines the main tenets of care and The Eightfold Path of Buddhism, a mode of practicing compassion, demonstrating the similarities in values and practices that embody what the author considers to be ethical comportment in organizations. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

关于对藏式围棋研究与保护的探讨

在吐蕃时期,藏式围棋就已广为流传,是古代藏族民众日常娱乐的重要组成部分,为开发人的智慧、纯洁人的性情起到了积极作用。兼容了逻辑思维和形象思维为一体的、具有民族特色的藏式围棋随着时间的推移衰落了,目前在西藏很难见到藏式围棋活动,这项古老的民族传统棋艺正处于消失的境地。当下,我们应当对藏式围棋进行挖掘与整理研究,让古老的藏式围棋以新的方式、新的内容面向社会、面向未来,弘扬优秀民族传统文化。     

藏族棋文化的见证——关于在强巴敏久林宫遗址发现的藏族石刻棋盘的学术报告

文章是作者赴墨竹工卡县甲玛乡吐蕃赞普松赞干布出生地强巴敏久林宫遗址,对亲眼所见的藏族石刻棋盘进行调查研究的一篇报告文章。作者通过对藏棋的名称、规则、判定输赢的方法等作的介绍,以及对这块石刻棋盘和有关的藏族历史所作的研究,认为早在佛教传入西藏之前,藏围棋已在藏区广泛流传,是藏区喜闻乐见的一种娱乐活动,并且传播到中国西藏周边国家和地区,具有鲜明的藏民族特点。最后,作者呼吁学者加强对藏棋的研究,并殷切希望各级文物管理部门,加强对珍贵文物的保护,以免这些珍贵文物被倒卖和毁坏。     

明清小说中的喷火兽母题佛经来源及其异国情调

在清代历史演义小说中,喷火兽母题大为兴盛,这当属西来佛教故事母题。丝绸之路上的诸多游牧民族国家影响了由印度至华夏中原的佛经传译,给佛经文学注入了一些不可小视的游牧民族因子,而其中以马崇拜为代表的怪兽崇拜即是如此。对火器的热衷,也使得清代小说中的异兽喷火描写成为一种虚拟想象的心理补偿。清代小说家由于实战经验和军事常识的不足,使其在营构文学世界时只好在佛经故事的宝库中搬取材料,从而构成了通俗小说中的喷火兽意象的书写。     

西藏体育旅游资源优势与发展对策研究

晚明僧侣们或以静坐参禅接引学者,或以西方净土化诱士人,形成了居士化的狂飙,且呈现出多元景观,诸如文人结禅社、注疏佛典等。刻经、念佛、纵欲三方面显示了晚明文人居士的多元莆观,别具风味。
