Keep the hope alive: young Indonesian musicians’ views of the future

Using ethnographic and interview data, this article explores hopes for the future of young Indonesian musicians. The young people are seen to consider their future trajectories in multiple, hierarchical music fields. The article also takes into account the ontological insecurity of jobs as a professional musician, arguing that there is continuous reproduction of a doxa, namely ‘survival of the fittest’ in Indonesia. Yet despite abundant risks to livelihoods, young Indonesian musicians expressed optimistic views about the future. The analysis of data below bridges the gap between the traditionally separate youth studies fields of youth transitions and youth cultures. Our interpretation critically contextualises the dialogue between these two fields based on the experiences of young Indonesian musicians as a part of the Global South.     

Five Star Teacher: In-Service on the Move

Teachers learned knowledge, skills, values, and dispositions through spending significant amounts of time working with heritage sites as they learned more about social studies. Elementary social studies teachers engaged in teacher in-service to increase their abilities to meet geography standards. Teacher professional development that caused instructors to engage with cultural and historic sites benefited them and should be considered as well as other models of teacher in-service. Teachers used study travel opportunities to engage in geographic investigation and exploration to accomplish inquiry. Teachers determined that extended time was required to experience the place, to value it, and to harbor the disposition to teach about it; they learned in-depth content from spending time on-site, and they learned skills to extract knowledge from site through reading the landscape. Teachers encountered multiple perspectives, technology, and controversial issues through their studies of regions in the Ohio River Valley. Teachers of elementary social studies may wish to consider this type of professional development to understand a sense of place and how it relates to the curriculum they teach.     

Identity Work,Techniques of Neutralization,and Deviance: Exploring the Relationship Among Older Adult Gamblers

This study investigates the value of techniques of neutralization in understanding how people involved in marginal to widely deviant behaviors perform identity work. Based on 33 in‐depth interviews with older adult gamblers, we show how techniques of neutralization are used to align personal and social identities. We describe the techniques of neutralizations our participants use along a continuum of gambling involvement, showing how techniques differ in variety and content and are contingent on larger narratives about appropriate behaviors, identities, and selves operating in contemporary society. Our research helps to refine sociologists' understandings of relationships between levels of involvement in deviant behaviors and identity work.

马克思主义中国化与中国传统文化的辩证关系

马克思主义作为西方的社会哲学思潮,能在中国传统文化中立足,并生根发芽,这绝不是偶然的文化事件和历史事件,它们彼此之间肯定有着契合之处。当前,在新的历史大环境下,探究马克思主义中国化与中国传统文化的文化关联性,将对我国特色的社会主义事业的发展,提供最可靠的理论保障。通过分析马克思主义与中国传统文化的共通之处和相互之间的影响,来对马克思主义中国化与中国传统文化的辩证关系进行有效梳理和讨论。     

科技文化视域下的“五大发展理念”研究——第十三届全国科技文化与社会现代化学术研讨会综述

由中国自然辩证法研究会科技文化专业委员会主办,九江学院马克思主义学院和武汉理工大学政治与行政学院共同承办的“第十三届全国科技文化与社会现代化学术研讨会”于2016年8月23日至24日在江西省九江学院隆重召开,来自全国18个省市的90余位专家、学者出席了会议.     

民族文学国际传播中的文化传递——以《尘埃落定》英译本为例

中国民族文学作品的国际传播必须注意文化的传递,这对于塑造中华民族形象、突破他人话语体系、提升文化影响力具有重要意义。但由于文化空缺的存在,中国民族文化向外译介面临诸多难点。葛浩文夫妇翻译的阿来小说《尘埃落定》是将民族文化向国际传播的优秀成果,分析其在民族文化传递方面的得失和方法对于提高我国民族文学翻译质量和传播民族文化具有重要的借鉴意义。通过英汉文本比较发现,葛氏夫妇的译本综合采用了音译、直译、意译、形象借用等多种翻译手法,尽量保留了原作的文化意境,但也存在误译现象,扭曲或丢失了一些文化意象。总的来说,译本忠实地再现了川西高原土司制度瓦解时期的社会文化韵味,有效地传递了中国民族文化。     

中古汉地之西域文化

社会文化生成与历史生成相互促生.文化生成主要在于文化接触、交往交融而形成复合文化.社会生成,主要指不同形态社会力量(生产方式、主体等)碰撞交流,形成新的社会特质.历史生成,因历史过程、历史事件尤其朝代更替或政权变更,使主体及其文化迁移或滞留,而产生新的社会主体或结构.即历史生成实质涵括或促动社会文化生成.同时,社会与文化生成积淀或敦促历史生成.族属、信仰之转换、转向通常基于文化、社会和历史的生成.即历史生成往往基于社会文化生成.自古代经中世纪至近代,西域文化不断东渐中土,与南北方汉文化交融生成,逐步成为现今汉文化的重要构成.此亦历史生成之内容.     

信仰食物：祭品的神性“营养”

基于学界饮食文化意义本身研究的丰硕成果,以宗教人类学的视角对物质文化进程中的食物信仰性进行探究.专就族群赖以生存的基本食物的文化属性详加分析,窥探其在体制性宗教信仰与民族民间宗教信仰文化观念的建构过程中,表现路径之不同和所承载的重要作用.无论是体制性宗教的特殊标志,还是民族民间宗教信仰中以祭品加以改造的方式,都相当程度阐释出信仰食物在与神灵互通实践中的精神营养内涵,以及于此两种文化信仰氛围之下的饮食男女的意义关系.     

藏族网民对网络文化的使用习惯、特点与认同研究

藏族网民对数字图片、视频、歌曲、影视、游戏和小说等网络文化的喜好使得他们形成了网络文化的使用习惯、特点以及强烈的网络文化认同感.藏族网民在网络文化载体手机化趋势和网络文化消费娱乐化倾向与其他民族的网民保持着一致性.但在网络文化认同上则表现为更加喜欢选择藏族网络文化产品;更加积极参与到对涉藏网络文化传播内容、方式的肯定、批评和建议中;更加倾向于由藏人自己主导、创作的网络文化作品;强烈希望涉藏网络文化创作和传播过程中对藏族文化习俗的理解和尊重.网络为藏族文化的传播和保护带来了新的机遇,更重要的是在藏族网民心中逐步建立起了网络文化认同.
