On the sample breakdown robustness of some nonparametric tests

In this paper, relying on the sample breakdown points, we investigate the sample breakdown properties of some nonparametric tests. It is shown that the sample breakdown points of the sign test asymptotically dominate those of the Wilcoxon test for one–sided hypotheses, However, the different conclusion is derived in the case of testing some shrinking neighborhood hypotheses. The breakdown behaviors of the Kolmogorov test and X²–test are also explored. These studies unify or refine some existing breakdown analyses of tests.     

Generalized polya eggenberger family of distributions and its relation to lagrangian katz family

Janardan (1973) introduced the generalized Polya Eggenberger family of distributions (GPED) as a limiting distribution of the generalized Markov-Polya distribution (GMPD). Janardan and Rao (1982) gave a number of characterizing properties of the generalized Markov-Polya and generalized Polya Eggenberger distributions. Here, the GPED family characterized by four parameters, is formally defined and studied. The probability generating function, its moments, and certain recurrence relations with the moments are provided. The Lagrangian Katz family of distributions (Consul and Famoye (1996)) is shown to be a sub-class of the family of GPED (or GPED ₁ ) as it is called in this paper). A generalized Polya Eggenberger distribution of the second kind (GPED ₂ ) is also introduced and some of it's properties are given. Recurrence relations for the probabilities of GPED ₁ and GPED ₂ are given. A number of other structural and characteristic properties of the GPED ₁ are provided, from which the properties of Lagrangian Katz family follow. The parameters of GMPD ₁ are estimated by the method of moments and the maximum likelihood method. An application is provided.     

On Second-Order A-, D- and E-Minimax Designs for Estimating Slopes in Extrapolation and Restricted Interpolation Regions

Summary

The concepts of D-, A- and E-minimax optimality criteria of designs for estimating the slopes of a response surface are considered for situations where the region of interest may not be identical to the experimental region. Optimal second-order designs are derived for the situation where the experimental region and the region of interest are both hyperspherical with a common centre. The dependence of the optimal design on the relative sizes of the regions is investigated. Further, the perfomance of designs optimal for one region in estimating slopes in other regions is also examined.

本文从＂中华民族多元一体格局＂理论视阈,论述了和谐民族关系的必要性与实现途径,要旨在于说明：古往今来,我国就是统一的多民族国家,构建和谐民族关系,始终是祖国统一、民族团结和国家安全的重要保障,也是增强中华民族凝聚力和当前实现民族复兴大业的关键所在;费孝通先生所提倡的＂中华民族多元一体格局＂理论,不仅是对中华各民族关系之历史与现状的精辟的理论概括和真实写照,而且对于我们正确认识中国国情,做好民族工作,构建社会主义和谐民族关系,亦有着非常重要的理论价值和现实意义。     

R12在水平管内流动沸腾换热实验研究

本文对R12在水平管内流动沸腾换热特性作了实验研究。实验结果表明,管内流动沸腾换热与单相对流换热一样,存在热进口效应,国外早期的实验数据由于未能考虑热进口效应而偏大。实验结果还表明,水平流动沸腾周向不均匀换热主要受流动结构影响;截面平均换热系数则与质量流速、热流密度、质量干度和蒸发压力密切相关。分析实验数据证实,流动沸腾换热是由气泡产生而引起的流动充分发展核态沸腾和双相对流蒸发两部分组成的。本文的实验数据与国外已有的换热关系式能较好吻合。     

The empirical Bayes estimators of the parameter of the Poisson distribution with a conjugate gamma prior under Stein's loss function

For the hierarchical Poisson and gamma model, we calculate the Bayes posterior estimator of the parameter of the Poisson distribution under Stein's loss function which penalizes gross overestimation and gross underestimation equally and the corresponding Posterior Expected Stein's Loss (PESL). We also obtain the Bayes posterior estimator of the parameter under the squared error loss and the corresponding PESL. Moreover, we obtain the empirical Bayes estimators of the parameter of the Poisson distribution with a conjugate gamma prior by two methods. In numerical simulations, we have illustrated: The two inequalities of the Bayes posterior estimators and the PESLs; the moment estimators and the Maximum Likelihood Estimators (MLEs) are consistent estimators of the hyperparameters; the goodness-of-fit of the model to the simulated data. The numerical results indicate that the MLEs are better than the moment estimators when estimating the hyperparameters. Finally, we exploit the attendance data on 314 high school juniors from two urban high schools to illustrate our theoretical studies.     

Transition probabilities and ARL performance of Six Sigma zone control charts

In this article, Six Sigma zone control charts (SSZCCs) are proposed for world class organizations. The transition probabilities are obtained using the Markov chain approach. The Average Run Length (ARL) values are then presented. The ARL performance of the proposed SSZCCs and the standard Six Sigma control chart (SSCC) without zones or run rules is studied. The ARL performance of these charts is then compared with those of the other standard zone control charts (ZCCs), the modified ZCC and the traditional Shewhart control chart (SCC) with common run rules. As expected, it is shown that the proposed SSZCC outperforms the standard SSCC without zones or run rules for process shifts of any magnitude. When compared to the other standard ZCCs and the Shewhart chart with common run rules, it is observed that the proposed SSZCCs have much higher false alarm rates for smaller shifts and hence they prevent unwanted process disturbances. The application of the proposed SSZCC is illustrated using a real time example.

我国 2 2个人口在 10万以下的少数民族主要生活在西部地区。近年来 ,他们在对待文化艺术遗产方面出现了一些新的特征 :歌手们更加关注自己民族的歌曲 ;地方政府在城镇和旅游建设中强调突出民族特色 ;农牧民组织民族服装模特队等。在此把这种发展变化称为“新开发”现象。
