Automated patient linking for electronic health record and child welfare databases

Abstract

There are 427,000 children in protective custody in the United States. A lack of integration between the child welfare data system and electronic health record systems complicates the communication of critical health history details to caregivers. We created and evaluated automated 10 custom algorithms linking these data. Deterministic matching was performed using combinations of first and last name, date of birth, and gender. If unmatched, a nondeterministic algorithm allowed for punctuation differences and letter transpositions. Of the children linked deterministically, 91.3% were linked. Of the ones undergoing nondeterministic matching, 71.3% were linked. Sharing integrated data is the first step in systematically improving health outcomes for children in protective custody. This approach represents an automatable and scalable solution that could help merge data from two disparate sources.

Prediction of order statistics and record values from two independent sequences

In this paper, we discuss the problem of predicting future order statistics based on observed record values and similarly, the prediction of future records based on observed order statistics. The coverage probabilities of these intervals are exact and are free of the parent distribution F. Finally, two data sets are used to illustrate the proposed procedures.

论笔录类证据的法定化与言词化

笔录类证据是《中华人民共和国刑事诉讼法》第48条规定的法定证据种类之一,是侦查机关在侦查行为过程中制作的、旨在获取证据物或认定案件事实的笔录类材料。作为特定侦查行为的固定方式,笔录类证据有着规范侦查行为的价值;作为证据体系的重要组成部分,笔录类证据有着证明案件事实的价值。其既可以充当实质证据,也可以充当实物证据的补助证据。在司法实践中,笔录类证据的适用存在类型泛化和质证虚化两大问题。在类型上,笔录类证据应当走向法定化,即明确笔录类证据包括勘验笔录、检查笔录、辨认笔录、侦查实验笔录、搜查笔录、扣押笔录和证据提取笔录,不包括讯问、询问笔录和情况说明。在质证程序上,笔录类证据应当走向言词化,即构建必要笔录制作人、见证人出庭作证制度和相应配套措施,以还原案件事实真相。

典籍用古语写成,外译时可能经过原语的古文今译和外语的今文古译的语内转换过程,古原语、现代原语、现代译语和古译语四要素与典籍外译的阶段可演绎出：原古→译古直接转换机制和原古→译现直接转换机制;原古→原现→译现→译古间接转换机制和原古→原现→译现间接转换机制,并随译者古今双语的掌握程度和原文的难度而单独或联合发挥作用。     

天下奇书：《函海》的版本源流及其价值特点

《函海》是与《汉魏丛书》《津逮秘书》《知不足斋丛书》“共列为四部”的清代著名私刻丛书。《函海》并非成于一时一地,亦非成于李调元一人之手,其版本源流复杂,一书多至八版,累计收书二百二十余种,千余卷,号称“天下奇书”。该书所刻皆白汉而明诸人著述未见之书,有功于《永乐大典》一书之流布,有补于《四库全书》遗珠之憾;专刻蜀中耆旧著述特别是明升庵未见书及己著书,有助于巴蜀典籍文献传承、蜀学文脉之延续。     

A Review on Characterizations of Discrete Distributions Based on Records and kth Records

This is a survey of characterizations of discrete distributions via properties of record values. Characterization results based on records and weak records are presented. Then the concepts of kth records, strong kth records, and weak kth records are recalled. Finally, characterizations of the geometric parent involving these three types of kth records are discussed.
