Adjusting the bias of adaptive sampling estimators of spatial dispersion indexes by the δ-method

It is common practice to investigate the spatial dispersion in a community of discrete individuals (like animals or plants). Usually, the study area is partitioned into spatial units of equal size and then the relationship between the first two moments of the variable representing the number of individuals in each plot is investigated. When the points are spread over a very wide area so that the population density is low but many points are concentrated inside a few units, then a suitable sample method for estimating the first two moments is adaptive sampling. However, since the more common dispersion indexes are non linear function of the first two moments, the resulting estimators are biased for finite samples. Accordingly, a procedure to adjust bias is required for small samples. In this paper a δ-method evaluation of the bias is proposed and the asymptotic distribution of the bias-corrected estimators is provided. Finally, a simulation study is performed in order to investigate the performance of the proposed procedure.

2020年中国天然气行业的运行态势

2020年,中国天然气行业运行走势持续向好,天然气行业景气指数、天然气生产景气指数和天然气销售景气指数均呈稳定增长态势,天然气对外依存度实现了从快速增长到减速刹车的转变。但是,中国天然气行业发展仍然面临勘探开发技术制约产量、储运技术亟需提高、天然气市场运行机制不顺、国际天然气市场风云变幻等挑战。当然,我国天然气行业也面临着良好的发展机遇,特别是“煤改气”政策的持续发酵、“碳中和”长远目标的提出、“智能化”和“新基建”的不断推进,均拓展了天然气行业的发展空间。中国天然气行业未来要实现快速稳定发展,需要从增加自有天然气供给量、拓展天然气应用空间、完善天然气市场运行机制、提升天然气行业运行质量、提高天然气行业智能化水平、保障我国天然气正常供给等方面入手。     

Immovable objects/irresistible forces: Intelligences of sociopolitical decision making

Mutually beneficial relationships (MBRs), a concept used to define public relations processes and outcomes, has been featured relatively uncritically for many years. This normative concept became a defining theme in the romantic era (1970s–1990s) of public relations: an elixir for collective problem solving and shared decision making. Careful consideration of highly contested issues, however, reveals evidence that within-group MBRs can prevent overarching issue solutions, decisions between issue-groups, and can constitute stalemating, hegemonic tribalism. Strategic issues management (SIM) provides decision-making intelligences by which conflict between businesses and other members of society can be understood. Issue advocates’ adversarial strategies, however, can frustrate a society’s ability to solve problems and make meaningful decisions, even when parties share a common motivating value. Stalemated public policy interpretations create sores that cannot heal; problems cannot be solved. Within-group MBRs can prevent between-group MBRs. This paper reviews the MBR and SIM literatures to analyze the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) marketplace and public policy role in a battle over gun regulation with students of Parkland, Florida. Parkland voices emerged after 17 students were killed with an assault weapon on February 14, 2018, in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.     

Discomfort With Homosexuality: A New Measure Captures Differences in Attitudes Toward Gay Men and Lesbians

This study describes a creative and psychometrically sound method that allows researchers to measure homonegativity at a lower threshold than existing measures and to differentiate between homonegativity toward gay men and lesbians. Four hundred and thirty-one undergraduate students at a Western comprehensive university were asked to respond to a series of vignettes describing situations in which heterosexuals sometimes experience discomfort in the presence of homosexuals, indicating the degree to which they would feel comfortable or uncomfortable. The 12-item Homonegativity as Discomfort Scale (HADS) has adequate alpha reliability (.92) as well as good criterion and construct validity. Suggestions are made as to how the measure could be employed in research. Testing on this sample shows greater discomfort with gay men than with lesbians and greater discomfort among men than among women.

考虑定性指标及误判损失的企业违约判别神经网络模型

识别和度量企业的违约风险是银行风险管理中很重要的一项工作.目前企业违约判别模型离实际应用还具有一定差距,表现在:1)模型所使用的样本基本都是配对模式,不能代表整体样本;2)很少直接引入影响违约的定性指标,如行业,地区和规模;3)没有考虑到误判损失的非对称性.针对上述问题,本文应用前向BP网络针对某国有商业银行的2003年全部有效的短期贷款企业的财务数据,引入了定性指标,采用全样本进行训练,最后确定使误判损失最小的切割点,这样就得到优化的神经网络模型.
