The article deals with the constructing methods for experiments carried out in an incomplete split-plot design supplemented by an additional treatment, called a single control. The control treatment has been treated usually as one specific factor level while not necessarily. The control cannot be connected with treatment combinations in an experiment. This distinguishes this article from others in the area considered. The proposed supplementation of whole incomplete split-plot designs leads to the designs with generally accepted methodological requirements, especially randomization. Moreover, we propose a few methods for constructing considered types of the designs with desirable statistical properties such as general balance and efficiency balance of the design with respect to treatment contrasts. 相似文献

This paper presents a method of estimation of crop-production statistics at smaller geographical levels like a community development block (generally referred to as a block) to make area-specific plans for agricultural development programmes in India. Using available district-level data on crop yield from crop-cutting experiments and data on auxiliary variables from various administrative sources, a suitable regression model is fitted. The fitted model is then used to predict the crop production at the block level. Some scaled estimators are also developed using predicted estimates. In practice, to reduce systematic variation and increase precision of effect estimation, a practical design strategy is then to partition the experimental units into homogeneous groups, known as blocks. It is an important issue to study the optimal way on blocking the experimental units. Blocked general minimum lower order confounding (B1-GMC) is a new criterion for selecting optimal block designs. The paper considers the construction of optimal two-level block designs with respect to the B1-GMC criterion. The Friedman test is often used for a randomized complete block design when the normality assumption is not satisfied or the data are ordinal. The Friedman test can be viewed as an extension of the sign test for multiple measurements within each subject or block. We propose a modified Friedman test based on the Wilcoxon sign rank approach. Coincidentally, Tukey proposed a test statistic similar to our proposed test, but blocks are ranked by the minimum difference within each block. In the proposed test, we use the variance of block to rank the blocks, with the least variance being ranked the smallest. In both Tukey test and the modified Friedman test, linear ranks are used for blocks and treatments. The Tukey test belongs to the family of weighted-ranking test from Quade (1979).The modified Friedman test, the Friedman test and the Tukey test are compared under various conditions and the results indicate that the proposed test is generally more powerful than the Friedman test and the Tukey test when the number of groups is small. 相似文献

In randomized complete block designs, a monotonic relationship among treatment groups may already be established from prior information, e.g., a study with different dose levels of a drug. The test statistic developed by Page and another from Jonckheere and Terpstra are two unweighted rank based tests used to detect ordered alternatives when the assumptions in the traditional two-way analysis of variance are not satisfied. We consider a new weighted rank based test by utilizing a weight for each subject based on the sample variance in computing the new test statistic. The new weighted rank based test is compared with the two commonly used unweighted tests with regard to power under various conditions. Stepped wedge trials are increasingly adopted because practical constraints necessitate staggered roll-out. While a complete design requires clusters to collect data in all periods, resource and patient-centered considerations may call for an incomplete stepped wedge design to minimize data collection burden. To study incomplete designs, we expand the metric of information content to discrete outcomes. We operate under a marginal model with general link and variance functions, and derive information content expressions when data elements (cells, sequences, periods) are omitted. We show that the centrosymmetric patterns of information content can hold for discrete outcomes with the variance-stabilizing link function. We perform numerical studies under the canonical link function, and find that while the patterns of information content for cells are approximately centrosymmetric for all examined underlying secular trends, the patterns of information content for sequences or periods are more sensitive to the secular trend, and may be far from centrosymmetric. 相似文献
