We consider the estimation of a change point or discontinuity in a regression function for random design model with long memory errors. We provide several change-point estimators and investigate the consistency of the estimators. Using the fractional ARIMA process as an example of long memory process, we report a small Monte Carlo experiment to compare the performance of the estimators in finite samples. To reduce the dimensionality of regression problems, sliced inverse regression approaches make it possible to determine linear combinations of a set of explanatory variables X related to the response variable Y in general semiparametric regression context. From a practical point of view, the determination of a suitable dimension (number of the linear combination of X) is important. In the literature, statistical tests based on the nullity of some eigenvalues have been proposed. Another approach is to consider the quality of the estimation of the effective dimension reduction (EDR) space. The square trace correlation between the true EDR space and its estimate can be used as goodness of estimation. In this article, we focus on the SIRα method and propose a naïve bootstrap estimation of the square trace correlation criterion. Moreover, this criterion could also select the α parameter in the SIRα method. We indicate how it can be used in practice. A simulation study is performed to illustrate the behavior of this approach.  相似文献

We display the first two moment functions of the Logitnormal(μ, σ2) family of distributions, conveniently described in terms of the Normal mean, μ, and the Normal signal-to-noise ratio, μ/σ, parameters that generate the family. Long neglected on account of the numerical integrations required to compute them, awareness of these moment functions should aid the sensible interpretation of logistic regression statistics and the specification of “diffuse” prior distributions in hierarchical models, which can be deceiving. We also use numerical integration to compare the correlation between bivariate Logitnormal variables with the correlation between the bivariate Normal variables from which they are transformed.  相似文献

A wavelet method is proposed that reduces function estimation error and provides smooth reconstructions, while still estimating jumps in the function well. It is based on analyzing multiple dilated versions of the sampled function. In simulation studies, the estimator exhibits low mean squared errors without sacrificing smoothness or jump detection ability when compared to other wavelet methods.  相似文献

This article addresses the problem of estimating the time of apparent death in a binary stochastic process. We show that, when only censored data are available, a fitted logistic regression model may estimate the time of death incorrectly. We improve this estimation by utilizing discrete-event simulation to produce simulated complete time series data. The proposed methodology may be applied to situations where time of death cannot be formally determined and has to be estimated based on prolonged inactivity. As an illustration, we use observed monthly activity patterns from 300 real Open Source Software development projects sampled from Sourceforge.net.  相似文献

The use of heteroscedasticity-consistent covariance matrix (HCCM) estimators is very common in practice to draw correct inference for the coefficients of a linear regression model with heteroscedastic errors. However, in addition to the problem of heteroscedasticity, linear regression models may also be plagued with some considerable degree of collinearity among the regressors when two or more regressors are considered. This situation causes many adverse effects on the least squares measures and alternatively, the ordinary ridge regression method is used as a common practice. But in the available literature, the problems of multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity have not been discussed as a combined issue especially, for the inference of the regression coefficients. The present article addresses the inference about the regression coefficients taking both the issues of multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity into account and suggests the use of HCCM estimators for the ridge regression. This article proposes t- and F-tests, based on these HCCM estimators, that perform adequately well in the numerical evaluation of the Monte Carlo simulations.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We present methods for modeling and estimation of a concurrent functional regression when the predictors and responses are two-dimensional functional datasets. The implementations use spline basis functions and model fitting is based on smoothing penalties and mixed model estimation. The proposed methods are implemented in available statistical software, allow the construction of confidence intervals for the bivariate model parameters, and can be applied to completely or sparsely sampled responses. Methods are tested to data in simulations and they show favorable results in practice. The usefulness of the methods is illustrated in an application to environmental data.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In high-dimensional regression, the presence of influential observations may lead to inaccurate analysis results so that it is a prime and important issue to detect these unusual points before statistical regression analysis. Most of the traditional approaches are, however, based on single-case diagnostics, and they may fail due to the presence of multiple influential observations that suffer from masking effects. In this paper, an adaptive multiple-case deletion approach is proposed for detecting multiple influential observations in the presence of masking effects in high-dimensional regression. The procedure contains two stages. Firstly, we propose a multiple-case deletion technique, and obtain an approximate clean subset of the data that is presumably free of influential observations. To enhance efficiency, in the second stage, we refine the detection rule. Monte Carlo simulation studies and a real-life data analysis investigate the effective performance of the proposed procedure.  相似文献

A general class of models for discrete and/or continuous responses is proposed in which joint distributions are constructed via the conditional approach. It is assumed that the distributions of one response and of the other response given the first one belong to exponential family of distributions. Furthermore, the marginal means are related to the covariates by link functions and a dependency structure between the responses is inserted into the model. Estimation methods, diagnostic analysis and a simulation study considering a Bernoulli-exponential model, a particular case of the class, are presented.
