Graphics for studying logistic regression models

In this article we focus on logistic regression models for binary responses. An existing result shows that the log-odds can be modelled depending on the log of the ratio between the conditional densities of the predictors given the response variable. This suggests that relevant statistical information could be extracted investigating the inverse problem. Thus, we present different methods for studying the log-density ratio through graphs, which allow us to select which predictors are needed, and how they should be included in a logistic regression model. We also discuss data analysis examples based on real datasets available in literature in order to provide further insights into the methodology proposed.     

Minimax A‐ and D‐optimal integer‐valued wavelet designs for estimation

The author discusses integer‐valued designs for wavelet estimation of nonparametric response curves in the possible presence of heteroscedastic noise using a modified wavelet version of the Gasser‐Müller kernel estimator or weighted least squares estimation. The designs are constructed using a minimax treatment and the simulated annealing algorithm. The author presents designs for three case studies in experiments for investigating Gompertz's theory on mortality rates, nitrite utilization in bush beans and the impact of crash helmets in motorcycle accidents.     

Algorithms for approximate conditional inference

This paper presents a method for listing the sample space for a conditional distribution in a discrete generalized linear model. This tabulation is used in conjunction with saddlepoint methods to approximate the associated conditional probabilities. These probabilities are used to calculate conditional p-values.

Cross-over Designs in the Presence of Higher Order Carry-overs

In cross-over experiments, where different treatments are applied successively to the same experimental unit over a number of time periods, it is often expected that a treatment has a carry-over effect in one or more periods following its period of application. The effect of interaction between the treatments in the successive periods may also affect the response. However, it seems that all systematic studies of the optimality properties of cross-over designs have been done under models where carry-over effects are assumed to persist for only one subsequent period. This paper proposes a model which allows for the possible presence of carry-over effects up to k subsequent periods, together with all the interactions between treatments applied at k + 1 successive periods. This model allows the practitioner to choose k for any experiment according to the requirements of that particular experiment. Under this model, the cross-over designs are studied and the class of optimal designs is obtained. A method of constructing these optimal designs is also given.     

Non-parametric Quantile Regression with Censored Data

Abstract.  Censored regression models have received a great deal of attention in both the theoretical and applied statistics literature. Here, we consider a model in which the response variable is censored but not the covariates. We propose a new estimator of the conditional quantiles based on the local linear method, and give an algorithm for its numerical implementation. We study its asymptotic properties and evaluate its performance on simulated data sets.
