A continuous approximation for evaluating reliability of complex systems under stress-strength model.

Evaluation of system reliability for complex systems based on Taylor's approximation becomes increasingly intractable. Taguchi's concept of random experimentation has been exploited by English et al (1996) for discretization of complex systems and determination of reliability values. We indicate a few demerits of discretization method and propose to retain the continuous character of the original problem by evaluating system reliability using a range approximation method. Our proposed method works better than discretization approach in all the three engineering problems considered for the purpose of demonstration.     

Asymptotic Distributions of the Generalized Range,Midrange, Extremal Quotient,and Extremal Product,with a Comparison Study

Necessary and sufficient conditions for the weak convergence of the generalized range, midrange, extremal quotient, and extremal product are obtained. The classes of possible non degenerate limit distribution functions of these simple statistics are characterized. Comparison study between these statistics with some examples for the most important distribution functions are given.     

Handling uncertain decisions in whole process design

In recent years, the chemical and pharmaceutical industries have observed a noticeable decline in economic activity. This has resulted in many companies focusing on innovative research and development as they consider this key to business success. In particular, a number of leading industrial organisations have adopted the principles of Whole Process Design (WPD). WPD considers the optimisation of the entire product development process, from raw materials to end product, rather than focusing on each individual unit operation. The complexity involved with the implementation of WPD requires rationalised decision-making, often with limited or uncertain information. This paper presents the outcomes of two questionnaires that examined the requirements of professionals working within the chemistry-using industries with respect to developing a decision-making support tool. From the findings a methodology is proposed, the outcome of which allows a decision-maker to visually interpret their decision results with associated levels of uncertainty. A chemical route selection case study demonstrates and validates the application of the proposed methodology.     

三种数值检索方式在SADIQ中的应用研究

本文介绍了SADIQ数据库针对玻璃/搪瓷釉料/陶瓷材料组分数值范围检索的特点,采用图解方法对比分析三种数值范围检索方式,并针对实际案例研究三种数值范围检索方式在SADIQ数据库中的应用。研究表明,三种数值范围检索方式各有特点,灵活综合运用能够实现在SADIQ数据库中查准和查全数据资源,快速获得评价专利申请的新颖性和/或创造性的文献。     

あいだに」和「ぅちに」的差异分析

从共时的角度考察日语中由「あいだに」和「うちに」构成的时间复句的用法.考察结果显示,「あいだに」和「うちに」均表示一定的时间范围,多数情况下可以互换,但二者存在情感色彩上的差异.「あいだに」仅用于客观陈述主句谓语的时间范围;而「うちに」在表达时间关系的同时还可以表示前后项事件之间的因果关系或伴有说话者主观的紧迫感或意外感的语气.「うちに」这些用法来自「うち」所具有的[对立性]这一语义特征.     

合并会计方法的比较研究

购买法和权益集合法对企业合并的财务状况和损益有着不同的影响。通过对二者的比较分析,进一步揭示权益集合法有虚增利润、夸大资产等弊病,不符合会计真实性、公允性原则。而购买法不但符合国际惯例,而且通过以协商价来进行资产合并的方式确认商誉,可以避免企业集团粉饰企业利润,更加客观反映合并企业的财务状况。     

论公共经济活动范围的合理界定

公共经济与民间经济活动范围的科学界定无论对财政、经济、政治体制理论研究和改革实践都具有重要意义。中国目前既不能按照所谓"小政府"论办事,也不能不顾经济承受能力按照某种事实上的"大政府"论办事,而应当既考虑需要又兼顾可能,按照市场经济条件下的分工规律,将公共经济活动范围界定于八个方面,而且每一方面都要既明确质的规定性,把握好量的界限。     

Nonparametric confidence and tolerance intervals from record values data

In a number of situations only observations that exceed or only those that fall below the current extreme value are recorded. Examples include meteorology, hydrology, athletic events and mining. Industrial stress testing is also an example in which only items that are weaker than all the observed items are destroyed. In this paper, it is shown that, how record values can be used to provide distribution-free confidence intervals for population quantiles and tolerance intervals. We provide some tables that help one choose the appropriate record values and present a numerical example. Also universal upper bounds for the expectation of the length of the confidence intervals are derived. The results may be of interest in situation where only record values are stored.

在存储容量模型、加工时间模型和变化 /分割模型等国外时间认知理论模型研究的基础上 ,黄希庭等分别从短时距、长时距和时间知觉阈限等方面 ,采用模糊统计、多因素设计等方法进行了一系列的实证研究 ,结果表明 :人类的时间认知不但存在分段性 ,而且还受多种因素的影响。结合神经心理学的研究结果 ,黄希庭等提出时间认知分段综合模型的理论构想 ,并指出今后时间认知的进一步研究方向
