Theoretical Perspectives of Male Sexual Abuse: Conceptualization of a Case Study

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the traumatic impact that sexual abuse can have on a young male's development by addressing mediating dispositions that can render a child vulnerable to the effects of sexual abuse. Consideration is given to three different theoretical perspectives that are not exclusive to male victims but shed light on the impact that sexual abuse can have on the development of a young boy. These perspectives include early family relationships and attachment theory, developmental psychopathology, and trauma theory. These theoretical lenses provide a conceptual understanding into why some victims are vulnerable to the effects of sexual abuse. Each theoretical view is applied to a case study of an adolescent male with a history of early trauma and sexual abuse. Clinical implications are discussed.     

‘Being while black’: resistance and the management of the self

‘Being while black’ is ultimately an ‘everyday revolution’, Despite the fact that people manage their selves by their own choosing, especially as their desires are being shaped (Foucault, 1977), their selves remains the basic revolutionary unit. Foucault's oeuvre on power and concept of dressage is utilized to explain racial profiling of blacks of what I call ‘racial dressage’, intended primarily to discipline the ‘black body’ (el-Khoury, 2009). In this paper, I argue that despite this false sense of presence of power and internalized social-control, blacks actively construct their day-to-day activities as a discursive object of resistance. Critical awareness to racial oppression is in itself is a form of opposition to it (Collins, 1990). I argue that social control and resistance are coproduced. Using discursive analysis of interviews I identified the following modes of resistance: disposition to steadiness (constituting an ethical self, sustaining an internal dialogue, and emotional management), rejecting criminalizing identities, discursive consciousness, refusing the spatial power, and lastly disbelief in the system. Ultimately, blacks live against ‘themselves’ and this is because the soul that has become the prison of the body, is being dismantled (Luxon, 2008).     

基于IPO交易量对我国投资者处置效应的研究

从IPO交易量入手,利用市场公开信息,研究投资者心理参考价格以及卖赢持亏的行为倾向(即处置效应),并在此基础上检验了处置效应的时间特征。研究结果表明,我国投资者的行为具有处置效应,投资者对首发上市股票的心理参考价格定位在1.5倍发行价;样本期间内存在年度、月份处置效应,投资者的卖赢持亏程度表现出时间差异;政策环境对投资者的卖赢持亏倾向有影响,在利好的环境下,投资者的参考价格相应提高,表现出较强的处置效应。     

The roles of vertical and shared leadership in the enactment of executive corruption: Implications for research and practice

Recent scandals involving executive leadership have vaulted the topic of executive corruption to a central concern in the organizational literature. History suggests that power can corrupt and that absolute power can be an especially toxic influence. In this paper we propose that the propensity for corruption (as measured by CEO responsibility disposition) of leaders and the degree to which leadership is shared are key factors in understanding the potential for executive corruption. More specifically, shared leadership is proposed as a moderator that can deter corruptive tendencies by providing checks and balances capable of reducing the potential for corrupt behavior. A conceptual model is offered along with propositions to help guide future research and practice.

单亲家庭大学生行为倾向性研究

近年来离婚事件不断增加,单亲家庭越来越多。本文通过调查得出结论：单亲家庭学生在校就读期间,在心理上、行为上总体来说与双亲家庭学生相差不大,对许多问题具有较为一致的观点,但在个别方面与双亲家庭学生还是存在着一定的差别。为此,学生管理工作者需要给予他们更多的关心和帮助,以促进单亲家庭学生的健康成长。
