晚清广州邮政三足鼎立,传统民信局?各国开设的“客邮”和大清邮政并存,但邮政管理统一是发展的必然趋势?肇兴于中外交涉频繁?战火连绵的晚清广州电报业,极大地提高了通信效率,得到了迅速发展?近代邮政在广州商民生活中得到了较为广泛的使用,伴随电报的开设而兴办的电报学堂是广州早期现代化成果的重要组成部分?梳理广州近代邮政电报的开设情况及其特点,有利于较为全面地了解近代邮政电报的兴办对晚清广州的政治?经济?文化?军事国防以及社会生活的影响?     

Maternal Education and Investments in Children's Health

Maternal education differences in children's academic skills have been strongly linked to parental investment behaviors. This study extended this line of research to investigate whether these same maternal education patterns in parenting are observed among a set of parenting behaviors that are linked to young children's health. Drawing on data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Birth Cohort (n = 5,000) and longitudinal models incorporating random effects, the authors found that higher levels of maternal education were associated with more advantageous health investment behaviors at each phase of early development (9 months, 2 years, 4 years, 5 years). Moreover, these disparities were typically largest at the developmental stage when it was potentially most sensitive for children's long‐term health and development. These findings provide further evidence of a developmental gradient associated with mothers' education and new insight into the salience of mothers' education for the short‐ and long‐term health and well‐being of their children.

清末民初湖北堤防文献述要

湖北素称泽国,境内江河纵横交错、湖泊星罗棋布。历来湖北政治以堤防建设为重,加之清末民初水患频仍,堤防建设更引起士人及普通民众的关注,所以这时期产生了许多堤防文献。这些堤防文献,内容丰富,资料翔实,并且提出了许多重要的江河防治思想与方法,对我们今天的江河防治仍具有现实指导意义。     

论早期巴文化

本文首先提出了对巴文化起源地的观点,认为巴文化的起源就是居住在巫山、巫溪境内的原大溪文化的居民.其次阐述巴文化的形成阶段,并论证它就是由峡江内的新石器时代文化发展而来.再次提出了巴文化的扩张阶段,是由峡内分别向东、向西扩张,并且提出了早期巴文化向东发展的路家河类型和向西发展的中坝子类型.最后解释了巴文化为什么会向不同方向扩张的原因.     

论中国早期电影的自由精神

中国早期电影突破传统模式、打破封建牢笼,善于吸收西方先进文化中所体现的自由价值取向.从电影的选题、创作、以至宣传发行都是独立自由、勇于创新的.早期电影深受多元文化的影响,直接倡导自由精神,鞭笞落后反动的旧式习俗思潮,这一切为早期中国电影的发展注入了无限活力,对整个社会也产生了深远的影响.     

Female fertility history and mid-late-life health: Findings from China

China’s middle-aged and older women suffer from poorer health than men. Using national baseline data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), a survey conducted from 2011 to 2012, this article applies logistic models to investigate the association between female fertility history (parity, early childbearing, late childbearing) and middle-aged and late-life health. We find that parity is related to the mid-late-life health of women. Women with four children or more are more likely to suffer from activities of daily living (ADL) impairment and poorer self-rated health than those with one to three children. Early childbearing is associated with ADL impairment; however, the correlation is mediated by socioeconomic status. Early childbearing is related to self-rated health in later life by an indirect-only mediation effect via educational attainment and personal income.     

Maternal Employment,Community Contexts,and the Child‐Care Arrangements of Diverse Groups

Integrating family and child data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study–Birth Cohort with contextual data from the census, this study examined associations among maternal employment, aspects of communities related to child‐care supply and demand, and the early care and education arrangements of 4 year olds in Mexican‐origin, Black, and White families. Children with employed mothers were more likely to be in informal care arrangements than in early childhood education, regardless of racial/ethnic background. For children in Mexican‐origin families, selection into informal care over early childhood education was more likely in zip codes with greater demand for care as measured by higher female employment. Utilization of parent care versus early childhood education was also more likely for children in Mexican‐origin and Black families in zip codes with higher female employment. Constraints associated with maternal employment thus hindered children from enrolling in early childhood education, and community contexts posed challenges for some groups.     

The Good Grandparent: Perspectives of Young Adults

As life expectancy increases, the role of grandparent has increased in duration and is continually adapting as families change in structure, function and form. Across the past several decades, researchers have examined grandparenting styles, finding some consistency as well as the emergence of newer styles, and evidence that grandparenting styles are related to the age and gender of both the grandparents and the grandchildren. In this study, we investigated young adults’ perceptions of grandparenting quality. University Students (N?=?470) from a Midwestern university responded to an online survey that asked them to evaluate the quality of their grandparents grandparenting now and at two retrospective points in time, childhood and adolescence. We hypothesized that the grandparents' performance of multiple styles of their role would be related to grandparenting quality. In addition, we expected that preferred grandparental roles would vary in relation to grandchildren's gender. The results of regression analysis indicated that, although grandparenting quality tended to decline across the respondents' developmental stages, higher ratings at an earlier stage were related to higher ratings at the latter two stages. Further, grandsons preferred grandparents who performed as supporters and advisors, whereas granddaughters preferred grandparents who functioned as supporter and friend. Overall, grandmothers were likely to be the more significant grandparent. Continual research on both grandchildren and grandparents will be needed to chronicle the development of the grandparental role in changing times.     

明末至清中叶白山派发展述略

本文首先考察了玛哈图木·阿杂木其人其事与白山派的关系,其次着重探讨白山派的早期沿革史,重点放在阿帕克和卓以前的历史活动上.因这段历史比较模糊,易产生混乱,而阿帕克和卓以后的历史发展较清晰,且学术界作过不少研究,所以就这段历史略加叙述.
