Ethnic appeal: A self-defense tool for Kenyan politicians

So far, analyses of apologetic rhetoric strategies as used by individuals or organizations to respond to accusations of wrongdoing have been concentrated in the West. An analysis of political apologia in an African setting – in this case Kenya – reveals that while Kenyan politicians have used denial, victimization, mortification, and counterattacking among other self-defense strategies, one particular strategy emerges as the most commonly used by Kenyan politicians – ethnic appeal.     

A comparative study of crisis communication strategies between Mainland China and Taiwan: The melamine-tainted milk powder crisis in the Chinese context

The purpose of this paper is twofold: (1) to identify and compare the crisis communication strategies (CCSs) that organizations used to respond to a congenetic melamine-tainted milk crisis in two Chinese societies (i.e., Mainland China and Taiwan), and (2) to explore the underlying political and media system reasons that led to the differences. Content analysis and discourse analysis of media coverage were used. The most significant finding is that Sanlu (a Mainland China-based organization) and KingCar (a Taiwan-based organization) demonstrated inverse pattern of the CCS adoption. Specifically, according to Coombs’ (1998) defense-accommodation continuum, Sanlu's CCSs moved from defensive to accommodative pole as time went by whereas, in contrast, KingCar started with accommodative strategies and moved towards the defensive pole gradually. Besides, the results showed that both organizations adopted denial, corrective action and apology strategies. However, on the Sanlu part, the most frequently used strategy was denial, while KingCar used justification most often. Moreover, this paper suggests that besides cultural dynamics, political and media systems also play a part in corporate selection of CCSs, and they are among the most important factors that should be taken into account to explain the differences in societies even with an identical traditional culture.

“请求”属于一种常见的言语行为,而“请求策略”是语用学相对集中的研究领域,但是理论上的阐释往往不足。因此,本研究选择请求策略的相关理论为研究对象,在介绍请求定义及组成的基础上,论述了交际能力与语用能力、语言语用能力与社交语用能力、言语行为理论、面子理论、礼貌理论等内容,并且进一步探讨了相关理论在请求策略研究上的应用。     

战略抉择:中国经济发展方式的现状与转型

经济发展方式包括对内和对外经济发展方式。改革开放以来,中国市场取向和高强度投入的对内经济发展方式,与注重加工贸易和以引进外国直接投资为主、借入外国债务为辅的对外经济发展方式相互作用,推动中国经济迅速发展。但是,这种发展方式只是脱贫之路,而不是富强之路。随着时间的推移,这种发展方式不可持续的弱点逐渐表现出来。因此,中国政府应该充分发挥"看不见的手"和"看得见的手"的作用,对内实行自主创新和调整产业结构的发展战略,对外实行以超比较优势为核心的梯型对外贸易发展战略、以调整结构为主线的质量型引进外国直接投资发展战略和以渐进的人民币国际化为中心的对外金融发展战略,以成功地完成转变经济发展方式这场"经济社会领域的深刻变革"。     

清雍正朝改土归流的原因、策略与效用

清雍正朝的改土归流是一次重要的社会变革,也是明代以来诸多改土归流中规模最大的一次。本文根据新近披露的边疆大吏奏疏和其他史料,探讨此次改流的原因、实现改流的策略以及改流产生的效用,对以往的一些观点亦提出商榷,同时总结清雍正朝施政的若干特点。

船舶产业投资基金发展路径研究

文章从我国目前与船舶相关的产业投资基金现状入手,通过分析,揭示了目前我国船舶产业投资基金的问题主要有:投资环境中存在的三大矛盾;未充分吸收和引导民间资本,以及对船舶企业经营管理的参与化程度不高。针对这些问题,提出了我国船舶类产业投资基金发展的步骤和策略。     

“双积分”政策下汽车制造商竞争定价与减排策略研究

"双积分"政策的实施对汽车制造商的定价决策产生了重要影响。考虑卖方由同时生产燃油车和新能源汽车的制造商1和仅生产新能源汽车的制造商2组成,在消费者低碳偏好和价格竞争影响下分别针对制造商1对燃油车采取和不采取节能减排措施的情况,研究"双积分"政策下汽车制造商的定价策略和减排决策,探讨新能源汽车积分值和积分比例要求对政府和企业决策的作用效果。进一步,通过对不同情形的结果进行分析,得到"双积分"政策的出台、消费者低碳偏好及制造商采取节能减排措施对制造商定价和减排决策带来的变化,并通过算例分析验证了结论。研究结果表明:(1)"双积分"政策可以降低新能源汽车的价格,提高新能源汽车制造商的利润,促进燃油车主动减排。(2)当新能源汽车的需求价格弹性系数和需求交叉价格弹性系数处于较高水平时,政府要制定较高的每台新能源汽车积分值。(3)燃油车的油耗水平存在一个环境属性标准,当油耗水平低于一定值时,随着新能源汽车积分比例要求的不断增大,制造商1选择提高燃油车价格。(4)消费者低碳偏好是提高燃油车减排水平的重要因素,政府可以对减排技术先进的燃油车制造商进行低油耗认证,提高消费者低油耗燃油车需求,激励燃油车制...     

Women,Poverty, and the Microenterprise: Context and Discourse

The article discusses the claims of success of microenterprise development programmes (MDPs) in poverty reduction and gender equality. It also deals with the broader theoretical and methodological issues related to the ways in which context and discourse interact in the assessment of anti‐poverty and gender equity strategies. MDPs are considered among the most viable strategies for helping women overcome poverty and promoting gender equity. However, there has been significant debate over these claims. The relationship between business ownership, poverty reduction and gender empowerment is still to be proved. The article presents the voices of women engaged in a microenterprise (ME) from a context‐informed and discourse analysis perspective, and considers the women's insights about ME as an anti‐poverty and gender empowerment strategy. The findings show a complex picture. On one hand, the new occupational status promises a tangible alternative to multiple personal, social and gender constraints. Additionally, women in the study perceived the ME as a space for self‐definition and as an outlet for expressing their oppressed identities. On the other hand, the findings seriously challenge the capacity of the MDP strategy to promote gender equity and combat poverty among low‐income women. Implications for research and policy are discussed.     

粤港澳合作打击有组织犯罪的新路径——以经济领域的防控策略为视角

获取垄断性经济利益是有组织犯罪的最终目的，雄厚的经济实力反过来又推动着有组织犯罪的发展。因此，粤港澳在合作打击有组织犯罪方面，应当将经济领域的防控策略作为重中之重、急中之急，从完善经济体制与管理制度、联手打击洗钱犯罪活动、对有组织犯罪实施财产刑等多方面着手，以真正取得釜底抽薪、斩草除根的效果。
