This study investigated Korean-American adolescents' stress related to their acculturation experiences and mental health. A total of 260 Korean-American adolescents from immigrant families (ages 12–18 years) participated in the study. The U.S. born group had a higher level of acculturative stress than the Korea-born group (t = 2.222; df = 258; p < .05). Males reported a higher level of self-esteem than females (t = ?2.112; df = 257; p < .05). Acculturative stress was positively correlated with depression (r = .299; p < .01) and negatively related to self-esteem (r = ?.292; p < .01). Self-esteem was negatively related to depression (r = ?.536; p < .01).  相似文献

In performance evaluations, data without explicit inputs (such as index data, pure output data) are widely used. To directly use such data, this paper presents a study on building DEA models without explicit inputs, so-called DEA-WEI models, which are applicable to the evaluation applications where inputs are not directly considered. We provide an axiom foundation of these kinds of models, and further discuss how to incorporate value judgments of decision makers into these DEA-WEI models. Several such models are derived. Finally, applications of the DEA-WEI models are presented.  相似文献

An investigation was conducted by the author into concessions of rightful property, child support and maintenance awards from ex-spouses under pressures from emotional blackmail of coercion. Information was obtained from legal and sociological literature, divorce records in Hennepin County, Minnesota, along with informal interviews with one attorney and eight divorced women. Spousal attempts at coercion during divorce negotiations may influence some women to make stipulations, agreements honored by this court, to less child support, property and/or maintenance than suggesteed guidelines or if they were to litigate those matters through the court system. This has economic, theoretical, therapeutic and research implications.  相似文献

本文基于声誉理论,建立了一个关于经理人声誉机制与显性机制相结合的最优动态契约模型,以形成长期激励与短期激励相结合的激励模式,根据分析得出了实现声誉有效激励的条件和提高声誉激励效应的途径,并与没有引入声誉机制的契约模型进行了比较,通过实例验证了声誉机制与显性机制相结合的最优动态契约模型的合理性,对于如何有效地发挥声誉机制对我国经理人的激励作用提出了一些建议。  相似文献

人们在日常交际中的话语内隐意义是通过话语表达的字面意义实现的,也就是说话语表达的实际意义总是大于字面意义。隐喻对话语的外显意义的规避有规约性的作用,即常规的会话含意是由话语中特定词语的意义所决定的;而非常规会话含意则产生于具体的会话场合,其推导离不开人们对当时语境特征的把握。因此,人们在理解含意时可以利用隐含意义传递的常规手段,而非常规会话含意则涉及外显意义的隐喻策略性回避。  相似文献

Each day for five days, 79 fifth‐grade children reported on events that occurred at school and they and their parents described their interactions with each other each evening. Consistent with previous research, it was found that on days when children reported more academic or peer problems during the day at school, they later described more aversive interactions with their parents. As hypothesized, increases in anxiety and drops in children's state self‐esteem partially mediated this link. However, parents did not report any differences in their interactions with the target child on days when the child experienced problems at school. This study suggests that negative events experienced by children while at school lead to short‐term changes in mood and self‐esteem, which influence their perceptions of subsequent interactions at home with parents.  相似文献

Objective: In this exploratory study, the authors evaluated the impact of an elective college course on dieting levels, eating styles, and body image among college women. Participants: Participants were a convenience sample of 29 self-selected female students at a western university who were mostly white, normal-weight seniors with significant dieting experience. Methods: The authors used valid and reliable instruments to collect data both before and after testing. An instructor conducted the program in an undergraduate course that met twice weekly for 15 weeks. Theory-based lessons focused on resisting media pressure, modifying dietary restraint, eating in response to hunger (intrinsic eating), and achieving healthy body image. Dependent variables included intrinsic eating, dieting involvement, emotional eating, body image, and self-esteem. Results: A comparison of pretest and posttest scores identified significant improvements for most measures. Conclusions: A theory-driven elective course implemented within a college setting may improve women's eating styles and body image.  相似文献
