教育投资短缺已成为制约我国教育发展的一大障碍。本文分析了造成教育投资短缺的原因,认为教育供给不足,需求无限以及教育投资效率低下是其主要原因,而解决这一问题的基本对策是增加教育供给,抑制需求,提高教育投资效率。     

企业投资决策分析方法及应用

目的/意义针对投资决策中偏好信息为区间模糊数的多准则决策问题,提出了一种基于冲突最小化的群体决策方法。设计/方法首先,以决策整体最优为目标,构建极大熵规划模型求解决策准则权重;其次,以决策总冲突程度最小化为目标,构建优化模型求解决策成员权重;然后,建立决策方案的比较可能度矩阵和排序向量模型,获得问题决策方案排序结果。最后,通过一个投资决策实例进行应用,验证了方法的有效性和科学性。结论/发现该方法能够解决投资群体决策中的冲突问题,在投资决策中形成偏好最一致的决策方案。

Federated searching and usability testing: Building the perfect beast

With the ubiquity of federated search tools as viable solutions for students and researchers to search across external sources and internal repositories, users have become more sophisticated in their application of this technology. With the goal of optimizing the user experience of its newly introduced federated search offering, Endeavor Information Systems employed usability testing to gain insights into the critical requirements of librarians and information professionals for this solution. The results of this analysis, conducted in concert with market research and customer focus groups, and their relevance to Endeavor's federated search technology are the focus of this article.     

Exact and approximate distributions for linear contrasts of means and variances

A Bayesian analysis is presented for the K-group Behrens-Fisher problem. Both exact posterior distributions and approximations were developed for both a general linear contrast of the K means and the K variances, given either proper diffuse or informative conjugate priors. The contrast of variances is a unique feature of the heterogeneous variance model that enables investigators to test specific effects of experimental manipulations on variance. Finally, important-differences were observed between the heterogeneous variance model and the homogeneous model.     

Convergence of a fixed point algorithm

This note gives a condition which ensures convergence to an optimum of an algorithm suggested by Silvey, Titterington and Torsney (19 78) in the optimal design context.     

Maximum likelihood ridge displays

I illustrate likelihood methods for estimating the consequences of shrinkage along any ridge path as well as methods for picking a two-hyperparameter path of optimal curvature and the optimal point on that path. In addition to my published "classical" methods, I also illustrate both the empirical Bayes and the random coefficient maximum likelihood approaches. Traces of risks for known parameters and losses for simulated responses are followed by traces of estimates that can reveal the same general information.
