Bivariate income distributions with lognormal conditionals

In this paper, the most general bivariate distribution with lognormal conditionals is fully characterized, using the methodology proposed by [3]. The properties of the new family are studied in detail, including marginal and conditional distributions, regression functions, dependence measures, moments and inequality measures. The new distribution is very broad, and contains as a particular case the classical bivariate lognormal distribution. Several subfamilies are studied and a generalization of the basic model is discussed. Finally, we present an empirical application. We estimate and compare the basic model proposed in the paper with a classical model, using data from the European Community Household Panel in different periods of time.

关于我国家电业出口型企业规避汇率风险策略的思考

汇率变动及其相关问题是今年学界的一个研究热点，研究领域基本上集中在汇率变动对一国国际贸易的影响，关于汇率变动对某个特定行业影响的研究文献很少，特别是实证研究则更少。本文试图在这方面做些探索，通过分析家电业出口型企业面临的汇率风险以及汇率波动对企业的影响，探讨并总结相应的规避汇率风险的策略，希望能为我国出口型家电企业或者其他相关行业提供帮助。     

民事二审发回重审制度的缺陷与重构

长期以来,人民法院在发回重审问题上,存在着理念上对发回重审过分依赖,过分强调以审判权为本位;发回重审的理由缺乏可操作性,具有极大的不确定性;对发回重审的案件审理缺乏相应的制约措施,不利于保护当事人的合法权益等缺陷.为了克服这些缺陷,必须从以下几方面对发回重审制度进行重构:明确发回重审的理由;限制发回重审的次数;赋予当事人的程序选择权;增加对发回重审案件的审理的制约措施.     

关于刑事案件卷宗改革的法律思考

刑事案件的卷宗 ,是刑事诉讼机制赖以正常运作的载体。但司法实践中长期奉行的卷宗中心主义对卷宗过度信任、依赖 ,导致案件事实发现与人权保障的刑事诉讼目标难以真正实现 ,必须予以改革。考虑我国国情和司法实际状况 ,刑事案卷制度的完善应以相对合理主义为指导 ,区分不同的诉讼阶段采取相应的改革举措 ,走渐进的改革之路。     

Cohabitation and Housework: The Effects of Marital Intentions

This study asks how cohabiters’ housework patterns vary by their marital intentions. I draw on interactionist theories that view housework as an activity that produces gender and family to hypothesize that cohabiters who are more invested in their relationships will spend more time on housework. Analyzing the 1987–1988 National Survey of Families and Households (N = 348), I find that, controlling for sociodemographic and household differences, men who are least committed to their relationships spend the least time on housework, whereas women's housework time is not affected by marital intentions.     

Household Structure and Living Conditions in Nigeria

Data on 7,632 households from the 1999 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey are used to examine household structure and living conditions in Nigeria. The study finds significant disadvantage in living conditions of single‐adult, female‐ and single‐adult, male‐headed households relative to two‐parent households. Extended households show no significant advantage in living conditions over two‐parent households if headed by women but are consistently advantaged if headed by men. Although extended households do not entirely wipe out the disadvantage of female headship on household living conditions, they show a significant mitigating potential. Efforts to understand and alleviate poverty in Nigeria may need to address simultaneously gender imbalances in access to livelihood opportunities and factors that foster nucleation of family structure into single‐adult households.
