理性主义从强调科学知识的客观性,或追求对科学知识的“应然”理解走向绝对主义,认为科学知识是完全客观的;社会建构论从表达科学知识的主观性,或追求对科学知识的“实然”理解走向相对主义,认为科学知识是完全主观的。事实上,科学知识既非完全客观的,也非完全主观的,而是实践基础上的主客观性统一。     

砂土路基力学与变形指标的室内试验研究

通过砂土做道路路基,对其进行了击实、抗剪、压缩模量、CBR值等比较系统的研究,指出了砂土作为路基的填料其剪切强度随着含水量的增加有一个最佳值,压缩模量随着法向应力的增大而增大,CBR值随着压实度的增加,明显增大,但是浸水状态时要降低得多。

文章从电影《嫁给大山的女人》所引起的网络争论入手,采用案例分析与比较研究的方法,从剧情细节处分析,力求基于此片探讨一个电影发展的现状。那就是电影作为一种年轻的艺术形式,本身具有传播广泛、易于接受的特点,在其娱乐大众的作用之外,我们更应意识到它巨大的教育功用与认知功用。同时,随着受众群体自我思考、自我判断的意识越来越强烈,电影中关于价值导向传达的问题也越来越凸显,甚至构成了电影主创人员与观众群体之间的尖锐矛盾。

Respective inequalities for common order statistics and record values are contained as particular cases.     

从科学哲学角度谈科学的文化价值

在科学哲学的历史上,对科学的文化价值的论述存在两种对立的观点,即实证主义文化观与人文主义文化观的对立。这两种观点从不同的角度阐释了科学的文化特征,但各有偏颇。科学作为一种人类的活动,不应把科学看做是一种纯粹"客观的"、"中性的"与人无关的东西,也不应该过分强调科学的人文价值,把科学消解于人文文化中,应该从"人类活动"、"人类需要"去理解全部科学,在其内部同时蕴涵着认识价值与人文价值。     

东方文化价值观对英语情态动词使用的影响

为研究不同社会文化观念对英语情态动词使用的影响,作者以亚洲留美学生（英语为非母语者）和美国本上学生（英语为母语者）相同主题的作文为对照组,分析了两者在使用表示“义务”、“必须”的情态动词时的异同。结果发现,东方文化价值观对英语情态动词的使用有着明显的影响。     

Codes, Stakeholders and Business Philosophy

Two concepts that business ethics has made its own are codes of practice and stakeholding. They pre-date the self-conscious, organised business ethics effort. Codes are standard in large businesses in the United States, but are not so widely used elsewhere. Stakeholder models remain largely aspirational. Both concepts have critics, and their practical value has yet to be proved. Despite this, they have the potential to transform the quality of business life. Their main strength is in combination with an appropriate business philosophy, which does not yet exist. Widely respected business values can be identified, but they need to be founded on basic principles, which is a requirement for any discipline to move from ideology to maturity. Some possible principles are suggested. An illustration is taken from financial services regulation, where markets are generally seen (to borrow Rousseau's phrase) as having to be ‘forced to be free.’ This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

The long-term pattern of adult mortality and the highest attained age

Recent new data on old age mortality point to a particular model for the way in which the probability of dying increases with age. The model is found to fit not only modern data but also some widely spaced historical data for the 19th and 17th centuries, and even some estimates for the early mediaeval period. The results show a pattern which calls for explanation. The model can also be used to predict a probability distribution for the highest age which will be attained in given circumstances. The results are relevant to the current debate about whether there is a fixed upper limit to the length of human life.
