We propose new ensemble approaches to estimate the population mean for missing response data with fully observed auxiliary variables. We first compress the working models according to their categories through a weighted average, where the weights are proportional to the square of the least‐squares coefficients of model refitting. Based on the compressed values, we develop two ensemble frameworks, under which one is to adjust weights in the inverse probability weighting procedure and the other is built upon an additive structure by reformulating the augmented inverse probability weighting function. The asymptotic normality property is established for the proposed estimators through the theory of estimating functions with plugged‐in nuisance parameter estimates. Simulation studies show that the new proposals have substantial advantages over existing ones for small sample sizes, and an acquired immune deficiency syndrome data example is used for illustration.  相似文献

In studies that produce data with spatial structure, it is common that covariates of interest vary spatially in addition to the error. Because of this, the error and covariate are often correlated. When this occurs, it is difficult to distinguish the covariate effect from residual spatial variation. In an i.i.d. normal error setting, it is well known that this type of correlation produces biased coefficient estimates, but predictions remain unbiased. In a spatial setting, recent studies have shown that coefficient estimates remain biased, but spatial prediction has not been addressed. The purpose of this paper is to provide a more detailed study of coefficient estimation from spatial models when covariate and error are correlated and then begin a formal study regarding spatial prediction. This is carried out by investigating properties of the generalized least squares estimator and the best linear unbiased predictor when a spatial random effect and a covariate are jointly modelled. Under this setup, we demonstrate that the mean squared prediction error is possibly reduced when covariate and error are correlated.  相似文献

Accurate estimation of the parameters of superimposed sinusoidal signals is an important problem in digital signal processing and time series analysis. In this article, we propose a simultaneous estimation procedure for estimation of the number of signals and signal parameters. The proposed sequential method is based on a robust bivariate M-periodogram and uses the orthogonal structure of the superimposed sinusoidal model for sequential estimation. Extensive simulations and data analysis show that the proposed method has a high degree of frequency resolution capability and can provide robust and efficient estimates of the number of signals and signal parameters.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Models with multiple discrete breaks in parameters are usually estimated via least squares. This paper, first, derives the asymptotic expectation of the residual sum of squares and shows that the number of estimated break points and the number of regression parameters affect the expectation differently. Second, we propose a statistic for testing the joint hypothesis that the breaks occur at specified points in the sample. Our analytical results cover models estimated by the ordinary, nonlinear, and two-stage least squares. An application to U.S. monetary policy rejects the assumption that breaks are associated with changes in the chair of the Fed.  相似文献

This paper presents a modified Whittaker–Henderson (WH) Method of Graduation. After giving a closed-form solution, we show that it is of practical use because it provides not only a smoothed series identical to that of the WH graduation, but also an extrapolation beyond the sample limit of current data. In addition, we introduce two other penalized least squares problems and show that they provide the same results as those of the modified WH graduation.  相似文献

Hierarchical study design often occurs in many areas such as epidemiology, psychology, sociology, public health, engineering, and agriculture. This imposes correlation in data structure that needs to be account for in modelling process. In this study, a three-level mixed-effects least squares support vector regression (MLS-SVR) model is proposed to extend the standard least squares support vector regression (LS-SVR) model for handling cluster correlated data. The MLS-SVR model incorporates multiple random effects which allow handling unequal number of observations for each case at non-fixed time points (a very unbalanced situation) and correlation between subjects simultaneously. The methodology consists of a regression modelling step that is performed straightforwardly by solving a linear system. The proposed model is illustrated through numerical studies on simulated data sets and a real data example on human Brucellosis frequency. The generalization performance of the proposed MLS-SVR is evaluated by comparing to ordinary LS-SVR and some other parametric models.  相似文献

This paper proposes the second-order least squares estimation, which is an extension of the ordinary least squares method, for censored regression models where the error term has a general parametric distribution (not necessarily normal). The strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimator are derived under fairly general regularity conditions. We also propose a computationally simpler estimator which is consistent and asymptotically normal under the same regularity conditions. Finite sample behavior of the proposed estimators under both correctly and misspecified models are investigated through Monte Carlo simulations. The simulation results show that the proposed estimator using optimal weighting matrix performs very similar to the maximum likelihood estimator, and the estimator with the identity weight is more robust against the misspecification.  相似文献

We propose an estimation method that incorporates the correlation/covariance structure between repeated measurements in covariate-adjusted regression models for distorted longitudinal data. In this distorted data setting, neither the longitudinal response nor (possibly time-varying) predictors are directly observable. The unobserved response and predictors are assumed to be distorted/contaminated by unknown functions of a common observable confounder. The proposed estimation methodology adjusts for the distortion effects both in estimation of the covariance structure and in the regression parameters using generalized least squares. The finite-sample performance of the proposed estimators is studied numerically by means of simulations. The consistency and convergence rates of the proposed estimators are also established. The proposed method is illustrated with an application to data from a longitudinal study of cognitive and social development in children.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose the application of group screening methods for analyzing data using E(fNOD)-optimal mixed-level supersaturated designs possessing the equal occurrence property. Supersaturated designs are a large class of factorial designs which can be used for screening out the important factors from a large set of potentially active variables. The huge advantage of these designs is that they reduce the experimental cost drastically, but their critical disadvantage is the high degree of confounding among factorial effects. Based on the idea of the group screening methods, the f factors are sub-divided into g “group-factors”. The “group-factors” are then studied using the penalized likelihood statistical analysis methods at a factorial design with orthogonal or near-orthogonal columns. All factors in groups found to have a large effect are then studied in a second stage of experiments. A comparison of the Type I and Type II error rates of various estimation methods via simulation experiments is performed. The results are presented in tables and discussion follows.  相似文献
