A study of Bayesian local robustness with applications in actuarial statistics

Local or infinitesimal Bayesian robustness is a powerful tool to study the sensitivity of posterior magnitudes, which cannot be expressed in a simple manner. For these expressions, the global Bayesian robustness methodology does not seem adequate since the practitioner cannot avoid using inappropriate classes of prior distributions in order to make the model mathematically tractable. This situation occurs, for example, when we compute some types of premiums in actuarial statistics in order to fix the premium to be charged to an insurance policy. In this paper, analytical and simple expressions that allow us to study the sensitivity of premiums, which are usually used in automobile insurance are provided by using the local Bayesian robustness methodology. Some examples are examined by using real automobile claim insurance data.

多媒体教学过程中出现了一系列的问题,这些问题从总体上可冠之为＂多媒体崇拜症＂。这种症状的产生成因复杂。其中既有特定时代背景下某些社会思潮的影响,如＂技术决定论＂的影响和技术使用上功利主义态度的影响;也有施教者和管理者素质上的不足,尤其是精神上的懒惰;更与当前大学的行政化办学体制有某种内在的关联。要克服这种症状,目前可做的工作重点是端正对多媒体使用的看法,提高多媒体使用的技术水平,并且在教学评价上要注重平衡。     

Dependence function for continuous bivariate densities

The notion of cross-product ratio for discrete two-way contingency table is extended to the case of continuous bivariate densities. This results in the “local dependence function” that measues the margin-free dependence between bivariate random variables. Properties and examples of the dependence function are discussed. The bivariate normal density plays a special role since it has constant dependence. Continuous bivariate densities can be constructed by specifying the dependence function along with two marginals in analogy to the construction of two-way contingency tables given marginals and patterns of interaction. The dependence function provides a partial ordering on bivariate dependence.
