Autocastration and autopenectomy in a patient with transsexualism and schizophrenia

Previous research focusing on changes in gay male sexual practices as a result of AIDS often avoids taking into consideration the meanings which sexual practices have within the gay community. As an alternative, the present study used a content‐analysis of personals advertisements within the personals section of The Village Voice to assess changes in the language gay men use to refer to their sexuality between the years 1978, 1982, 1985, and 1988. A significant increase in personals advertisements suggesting a concern with health is noted from 1982 to 1985. This increase continues from 1985 to 1988. Corresponding in time with these changes are increases in the number of personals advertisements which express a rejection of “stereotypical” presentations of self within the gay community. This rejection is seen as an attempt at self‐affirmation of characteristics perceived by gay men themselves as being desirable at particular historical moments. Implications for the basis of future policy interventions in reaction to AIDS are discussed. Finally, the utility of personals advertisement columns as an indicator of the meanings which people of various sexual preferences attach to their sexuality is discussed.     

The Meanings of Family in Substance Users’ Change Talk During Motivational Interviewing: A Qualitative Study

Only a very small number of studies have examined the meaning of significant others in motivational interviewing (MI) sessions. The aim of this qualitative study is to provide insights into substance users’ experience of the meaning of family in the change process and to expand current understanding about the significance of family relationships in change talk during MI. The analyses are based on videotaped data consisting of 98 MI sessions in the Finnish Probation Service. The results show that family relationships are important and diverse factors that promote or hinder motivation to change in substance users’ change talk.     

‘My Mother Thinks that this is the Case,and so Does My Teacher. I,for My Part,Do Not Notice Any Difference’: Methodological Reflections on Intersubjectivity in the Research Process with Children

This article illustrates why the notion of intersubjectivity is important when conducting interviews with children. Even though intersubjectivity is often undermined in educational activity as well as in research with children, it needs to be established and maintained in order to make the children talk and the adults listen. By discussing some interview material from a research project in which children diagnosed with AD[H]D talk about their medication, the authors show how creative the children are when expressing their subjective meanings, and how helpless the adults often are when they do not at first understand the children. Here, intersubjectivity is realised when the adult interviewer manages to understand the children's expressions as their efforts to convey their ideas. Children who struggle to express themselves and communicate need to rely on adults' empathy and understanding.     

简论“李何之争”

＂李何之争＂是明代文学复古运动发展到一定阶段的必然产物。论争的的内容主要包括三个方面：李、何是否遵循＂法式;＂其遵循＂法式＂所用的方法以及最终所达到的文学目的;二者对自己以及对方文学风格的看法。＂李何之争＂在明代文学复古运动中有着其重要的意义,当然也不免会暴露出自己的矛盾和缺陷。     

隐喻映射机制分析简

为了阐释隐喻理解的理据,以英文报刊杂志上收集的隐喻表达为语料,对隐喻映射过程的三个特征,即隐喻映射的选择性、不对称性和特征突现性进行了分析。研究发现：喻体到本体的映射是一个混合机制;本体在选择过程中限定映射原则并将映射的特征在本体域内运用;本体与喻体就某一特征表现出来的不同程度的突显性决定了隐喻映射的不对称性。此外,突现特征的研究证明了两域映射模型很难解释新奇隐喻。
