‘A city is not a company,a flat is not a commodity’: urban movements and defenders of tenants’ rights in Poland

This article describes urban and tenant movements that have been created in Poland in response to the commercialization of urban space and the complete commodification of the right to housing. On the one hand, spatial segregation in Polish cities was fully approved by the state; on the other hand, it became a source of income for new owners of acquired buildings, who often used criminal methods to intimidate tenants. Brutal evictions encountered social resistance from the emerging tenant movement, non-institutionalized left-wing communities and endangered tenants, who were often pensioners and members of the lower classes. The author mentions undertaken and possible methods of social self-defence such as eviction blockades and rent strikes. He also raises the question of whether urban movements can become part of a broader social movement for systemic change.     

Art for integration: political rationalities and technologies of governmentalisation in the city of Malmö

Cities increasingly use artistic and cultural activities to promote active citizenship and social cohesion. We suggest that city-sponsored cultural and artistic practices in Sweden are finding a new discursive context in migration. In this article, we look at two artistic and cultural institutions in Malmö, Sweden: Arena 305 and Drömmarnas hus. We develop a typology of governmentalisation based on the work of Nicholas Rose and Peter Miller, which allows us to describe the governing activity of Arena 305 and Drömmarnas hus. What becomes visible is the discrepancy between the moral form of the political rationalities and the technologies of government: even though institutions may harbour ideals and principles of inclusion, they are perfectly capable of sustaining activities that brighten the very boundaries they set out to challenge.     

千城一面——造城时代下的物竞天择

随着对城镇化质量的日益关注,媒体与学界对千城一面的批判愈演愈烈。然而,如果将城市看做是地球生态系统的一部分,遵循生物界优胜劣汰、适者生存的丛林法则,那么千城一面现象便是时代背景下环境选择的结果——特定的科技、经济、文化发展水平等客观属性,把在生存竞争中处于劣势的建筑形制与空间范式逐一淘汰,筛选出最符合时代需求与发展方向的特征传承下去。在理解千城一面的时代必然性的基础上,理性认识古典主义与现代主义、空间舒适性与独特性、空间使用者的主与客之间的辩证关系,才能走出"为批判而批判"的误区。     

Socio-economical analysis of Italy: The case of hagiotoponym cities

This paper considers joining the economical characteristics of Italian cities with a relevant sociological aspect of the Catholic saints. More than in other countries, a high percentage of Italian cities are toponyms coming from the name of specific saints (hagiotoponym). The link with Italian religious views is distinct. The statistical analysis of the economic contributions that each hagiotoponym city provides to the Italian GDP is considered. Such an analysis is also based on the comparison with Italian data and is considered with the Theil, Gini, and Herfindahl-Hirschman indices. It is obtained that hagiotoponym cities represent a proxy of the overall Italian reality of medium-sized cities in the case of outliers removal.     

Crafting Child‐friendly Cities: Evidence from Biratnagar Sub‐metropolitan City,Eastern Nepal

Our cities are increasingly becoming the sites where children socialize, observe, and learn how society functions and many local and global activities have impacted children's health and well‐being. The Child‐friendly Cities initiative, launched by the United Nations Children's Fund and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in 1996, draws in diverse stakeholders to place children at the center of the urban agenda. Based on social work research, this article analyzes the acclaimed status of Biratnagar Sub‐metropolitan city, Eastern Nepal, as a child‐friendly city. Despite its efforts, the city of Biratnagar is yet to meet the required criteria to claim itself as a child‐friendly city. Further improvements by the city administration in achieving children's participation in decision‐making, child‐friendly legal environment, and code of conduct are essential. Based on the evidence, the authors advocate for bottom‐up approaches that include children's voices and their real participation in city governance and a strong political will to craft child‐friendly cities, not as a policy rhetoric but for real. Enabling children to fulfill their potential as equal participants in crafting child‐friendly cities will require adults to relinquish some of their hegemonic powers of decision‐making on behalf of children.

在张爱玲以上海为背景的小说中,弥漫着浓郁的“都市风情”。张爱玲从女性的视角和生活环境出发,重视人与景、人与物的联系。她长于在小说中对上海的街巷、公馆(公寓)的堂屋、阳台等的点染描绘。这些小景色、小环境往往成为她小说中人物重要的活动场所。她笔下的人物与环境融为一体,相互补充,相互映衬,构成了上海都市风情的重要内容,也显示了张爱玲卓越的艺术才情。同时,张爱玲善于营造世态人情氛围,从而为她的“都市风情画”注入了日常生活气息。     

农民工定居决策的影响因素分析——以南京市为例

调查发现,农民工定居城市意愿并不十分强烈,反映出定居决策影响因素的多样性和层次性。农民工定居决策主要受务工收入影响,但也受制于社会的、文化的、心理的和个人特征因素。     

管治理念及中国大都市区管理模式的重构

管治 (Governance)作为一种在政府与市场之间进行权利平衡再分配的制度性理念 ,已经愈来愈成为全球性的共同课题 ,并迅速渗透到城市与区域规划、管理的具体行动中。探究管治概念的由来与本质 ,客观评价其局限性 ,在国际比较的基础上以管治的理念探讨中国大都市地区管理模式的重构 ,对我国相应的研究与实践具有重要意义     

国内外城市设计管控实践研究综述

城市设计管控作为城市设计运作过程中的重要环节,在指导城市建设、塑造城市空间环境品质上具有重要作用.我国城市设计发展历程不长,在不断演进过程中,需要大力借鉴和积累国外的优秀经验.该文从历史发展的角度,梳理和比较国内外城市设计管控实践发展的历程,以期为具体的城市设计管控方法提供一个宏观的参照脉络和体系.     

城镇一体化进程中农村人力资源开发现状及对策研究

当前我国正处于城乡一体化进程的稳步发展时期,而影响其最终结果的核心因素之一就是农村人力资源开发情况的完备程度。然而对于拥有巨大人力资源的中国农村来说,劳动力的开发还十分有限,这也在一定程度上限制了我国社会的总体发展。分析了当前我国农村人力资源开发的现状,并就存在的问题提出了相应对策。
