We propose an algorithm to estimate the unknown constants in a multiple linear regression model under the minimum sum of weighted absolute errors (MSWAE). Ridge regression solves multicollinearity problems by introducing a biasing parameter that is called ridge parameter; it shrinks the estimates as well as their standard errors in order to reach acceptable results. Many methods are available for estimating a ridge parameter. This article has considered some of these methods and also proposed a combined nonlinear programming model and Kibria method. A simulation study has been made to evaluate the performance of the proposed estimators based on the minimum mean squared error criterion. The simulation study indicates that under certain conditions the proposed estimators outperform the least squares (LS) estimators and other popular existing estimators. A common statistical problem encountered in biomedical research is to test the hypothesis that the parameters of k binomial populations are all equal. An exact test of significance of this hypothesis is possible in principle, the appropriate null distribution being a normalized product of k binomial coefficients. This paper shows that by minimizing a Chebychev norm a mixing distribution can be constructed which converges weakly to the true mixing distribution with probability one. Deely and Kruse (1968) established a similar result for the supremum norm. For both norms the constructed mixing distribution is computed by solving a linear programming problem, but this problem is considerably smaller when the Chebychev norm is used. Thus a suitable mixing distribution can be constructed from solving a linear programming problem with considerably less computational work than was previously known. To illustrate the application of this simpler procedure it is applied to derive nonparametric empirical Bayes estimates in a simulation study. Some density estimates are also illustrated. 相似文献

We consider the problem of managing demand risk in tactical supply chain planning for a particular global consumer electronics company. The company follows a deterministic replenishment‐and‐planning process despite considerable demand uncertainty. As a possible way to formally address uncertainty, we provide two risk measures, “demand‐at‐risk” (DaR) and “inventory‐at‐risk” (IaR) and two linear programming models to help manage demand uncertainty. The first model is deterministic and can be used to allocate the replenishment schedule from the plants among the customers as per the existing process. The other model is stochastic and can be used to determine the “ideal” replenishment request from the plants under demand uncertainty. The gap between the output of the two models as regards requested replenishment and the values of the risk measures can be used by the company to reallocate capacity among different products and to thus manage demand/inventory risk. 相似文献
