Preventive therapy and resilience promotion: an evaluation of social work led skills development group work

Concerns have been expressed for some time about a decline in emphasis on therapeutic work in social work, notably articulated in the Munro Review. Further concerns have been expressed in child care that social workers have increasingly had to focus on child protection work rather than earlier stages of prevention. However, there remain opportunities for social workers through the development of new programmes. One development has been that of Behaviour and Education Support Teams: multi‐professional teams, containing as a key element social workers, and encouraging novel practices designed to help emotional stability and improved behaviour and education performance. This study reports on an evaluation of a social worker delivered school‐based social skills programme, which can contribute to the important area of resilience. This showed significant and sustained improvements in pro‐social behaviour and friendships. The implications of this for the therapeutic potential and professional role of social work are discussed.     

Perceived Similarity With Gay Men Mediates the Effect of Antifemininity on Heterosexual Men’s Antigay Prejudice

This research examined the hypothesis that heterosexual men’s motivation to differentiate themselves from gay men mediates the relationship between the antifemininity norm of masculinity and antigay prejudice. We assessed masculinity through three concepts: status, thoughness, and antifemininity. Participants then reported their perceived similarity with gay men and their antigay prejudice. The results showed that antifemininity was the best predictor of both perceived similarity and antigay prejudice: The more people endorsed the antifemininity norm, the more they perceived themselves as dissimilar from gay men and showed antigay prejudice. More important, perceived similarity mediated the effect of antifemininity on antigay prejudice. These findings provide direct evidence for the link between masculinity and the motivation to differentiate oneself from gay men, and they suggest that antigay prejudice accomplishes the identity function of maintaining unambiguous gender boundaries.

社会生活中广泛存在着“存在感”、“刷存在感”等现象,对个体的社会交往行为产生了重要影响。通过扎根理论方法,对现实和虚拟情境中这种存在感产生原因、过程及其结果进行探讨。结果发现：存在感通常是个体自发产生的一种心理体验,伴随着尊重、自我实现以及积极情绪等体验;获得存在感的需求影响着个体主动获取存在感体验的行为,包括关系需求和归属需求;个体可以通过个体途径和群体途径获得存在感,前者为直接途径,后者为间接途径;存在感体验失败时,个体既有可能选择补偿行为重建存在感,也可能产生出社交退缩表现,这取决于其存在感需求本身。文章最后探讨了未来可进一步拓展的地方和研究的不足。     

新生代员工参与需求对领导风格偏好的影响

通过问卷调查对594位新生代员工进行分析,并从下属中心视角探讨新生代员工参与需求对其领导风格偏好的影响机制。研究发现,新生代员工参与需求对指令式和授权式领导风格偏好产生显著消极影响,对参与式和教练式领导风格偏好产生显著积极影响,主管信任和员工参与感知在新生代员工参与需求与指令式和授权式领导风格偏好的关系中起显著调节作用。

On Childhood and the Logic of Difference: Some Empirical Examples

This article argues that universal documents on children’s rights can provide illustrative examples as to how childhood is identified as a unity using difference as an instrument. Using Gille Deleuze’s theorising on difference and sameness as a framework, the article seeks to relate the children’s rights project with a critique of representation. It seeks to illustrate how the children’s rights project seems to be promoting an image of childhood that is sharply contrasted by adulthood in a dichotomised sense, as well as how, in these documents, the fate of the child is being intertwined with the fate of the state.
