Negative Religious Rhetoric in the Lives of Black Cisgender Queer Emerging Adult Men: A Qualitative Analysis

Given the intersection of racial, religious, and sexual identities for Black queer populations, the current study examines sexuality-related religious rhetoric. Twenty Black cisgender queer men were recruited to participate in a qualitative interview. Using thematic analysis, the research team identified four themes: negative religious rhetoric, personal consequences of negative religious rhetoric, social consequences of negative religious rhetoric, and growth from negative religious rhetoric. Participants explained the pervasiveness of negative religious rhetoric within their churches and family structures. Men also conveyed how negative religious rhetoric frames societal ideologies around same-sex behavior, often condoning violence toward queer populations. Although men had negative experiences, participants articulated the importance of using oppression as a platform for growth. Black cisgender queer men are present within religious institutions; however, such negative religious rhetoric may negatively affect their mental and physical health. Researchers, clinicians, and clergy should consider the ways negative religious rhetoric marginalizes queer populations.     

An approximation to the convolution of gamma distributions

In general, the exact distribution of a convolution of independent gamma random variables is quite complicated and does not admit a closed form. Of all the distributions proposed, the gamma-series representation of Moschopoulos (1985 Moschopoulos, P. G. (1985). The distribution of the sum of independent gamma random variables. Annals of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics 37Part A:541–544. [Google Scholar]) is relatively simple to implement but for particular combinations of scale and/or shape parameters the computation of the weights of the series can result in complications with too much time consuming to allow a large-scale application. Recently, a compact random parameter representation of the convolution has been proposed by Vellaisamy and Upadhye (2009 Vellaisamy, P., Upadhye, N. S. (2009). On the sums of compound negative binomial and gamma random variables. Journal of Applied Probability 46:272–283.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] , [Google Scholar]) and it allows to give an exact interpretation to the weights of the series. They describe an infinite discrete probability distribution. This result suggested to approximate Moschopoulos’s expression looking for an approximating theoretical discrete distribution for the weights of the series. More precisely, we propose a general negative binomial distribution. The result is an “excellent” approximation, fast and simple to implement for any parameter combination.

编辑审稿中的非学术因素及排除之策

学术期刊是学术和学科建设的重要阵地,应以学术性作为编辑审稿工作的唯一标准。然而,在现有学术评价体制的影响下,这一工作受到了诸多非学术因素的消极干扰,如以作者身份的高低而非稿件质量的高低来取舍稿件。这一非学术性倾向直接影响了审稿的公正性,也削弱了编辑审稿活动的意义,是学术评价异化的一种反映,不利于学术研究的正常进行和健康发展。编辑应该强化责任意识,自觉克服心理因素,排除思维定势,提高学术判断力,重视学术新人的发现和扶持,从而有效发挥学术期刊在学术和学科建设中的积极作用。

从中国英语音译词论汉语文化负载词的英译策略

要把中国文化特有事物翻译成英语,必然会出现很多标准英语中没有的词汇与表达,而对汉语文化负载词的翻译又直接关系到跨文化交际与民族文化传播能否顺利进行,所以探求文化负载词的汉译英策略具有深远的意义。英语与中国文化结合的产物———中国英语,已被广大学者认可为中国文化的载体,推广中国英语中的汉语拼音音译词,既可以宣传汉语,增强汉语在世界范围的影响力,又有利于中国文化的输出,还能增添新的英语词汇,丰富扩大英语的表意功能。因此,翻译负载汉语文化的部分词汇表达直接采用相应的中国英语的音译词是一种有效的翻译策略。     

“是……的”句型日译汉的偏误分析

据实际语料考察,日本留学生在日译汉过程中使用“是……的”句型的出错率较高。留学生误译语句中有的没有使用“是……的”句型,有的虽然使用了“是……的”句型,但语序等方面存在问题。在分析偏误产生的原因的基础上,通过朗读等语感训练方式,可以提高“是……的”句型使用的正确率。

广告语言属于文学性语言,在广告语言的创作中,需要调动各种修辞手法使语言增加魅力,吸引受众。消极修辞以其平易质朴的特点能产生强烈的艺术感染力,积极修辞更是以其审美惊奇感和审美惊奇感给受众以极大的冲击力。积极修辞有多种修辞手法,都可以在广告语言中得到合理运用,在很多广告语言中则需要综合运用多种修辞手法,以加强表达效果,如比喻、比拟、夸张、借代、对偶、仿词等。     

对行政诉讼调解制度的冷思考

行政诉讼调解制度对当下中国的行政诉讼法发展有着不可忽视的消极作用,它将行政诉讼的目的定位为解决纠纷,淡化了行政诉讼保护相对人合法权益的目的,妨碍了行政诉讼独特的宪政功能的发挥,并导致了行政法规则在诉讼中的模糊化,使行政诉讼所承担的对行政法的告示、指引、预测、教育等作用无从发挥,行政违法的责任也随之淡化。而学界肯定行政诉讼调解制度的理由如行政裁量权的存在、中国无讼厌讼传统、外国存在相关制度等,均无法成立。由此,中国在当下不应建立行政诉讼调解制度。     

《汉语新词新语年编2003-2005》词目年代研究——兼论《编年本〈汉语新词语〉系列词典部分词目的著录年代》

《汉语新词新语年编2003-2005》一书面世后,陶炼先生发表了《编年本〈汉语新词语〉系列词典部分词目的著录年代》,全文使用《人民日报》报刊检索作为研究新词词目年代的唯一方法。此种方法作为词目搜索范围过于狭窄,为了比较准确查找新词出现的相关年代,应当扩大搜索范围:除使用《人民日报》外,智能查找新词出现年代的方法还可使用人民网等在线报刊网站,利用谷歌、百度等搜索引擎进行网页查找也是可行的方法。新词词目的年代断定在实践中是非常复杂且易出纰漏的,新词词典词目年代的断定不能保证完全准确。
