A case of suspected child abuse by an adolescent mother: The use of short-term psychotherapy

The incidence of pregnancy during adolescence has escalated dramatically in recent years, with an estimated half a million infants born to teenagers each year in the United States. A disproportionately high amount of child abuse and/or neglect is encountered among adolescent parents, underscoring the need for an effective intervention strategy. Short-term psychotherapy may be beneficial in these cases for forging a therapeutic alliance expeditiously and rigorously challenging the patient's resistance. The case described involves alleged abuse by a 16-year-old mother. An intervention was designed to clarify the allegations surrounding the abusive incident, help the mother confront episodes of loss in her own life and overcome feelings of hopelessness engendered by separation from her infant.

Clinical Writing of a Therapy in Progress: Ethical Questions and Therapeutic Challenges

Clinical implications and ethical dilemmas of the use of confidential case material in clinical writing are examined, including a review of the discourse among professionals who publish clinical work. This literature is applied to a clinical illustration of psychotherapy with a client who gave consent for publication and read the clinical write-up of her case material. It is suggested that clinical writing may increase client “self-reflection” if there is a “secure base” of attachment between therapist/author and the client. The impact on the client’s treatment process is examined, in addition to a discussion of ethical questions and professional recommendations. ²Dr. Susanne Bennett is an Assistant Professor, National School of Social Service of the Catholic University of America. 东干文——汉语拼音文字的成功尝试

中亚的东干人不仅为该地区的社会经济发展作出了巨大的贡献,而且创造了海外华人历史上的奇迹.他们将带到中亚地区的汉语西北方言拼音化,使用38个斯拉夫字母拼写东干语,采用了词式书写,制订了正字法规则,出版了书报杂志,编写了东干文教科书,并在此基础上还培养了一大批诗人和作家,发展了东干族文学、教育和民族文化.东干文是汉语拼音文字的成功尝试,它为我国现代汉语音素文字的创制和词式书写的语言规化理论和实践提供了有益的经验和启发.

戎昱在江南地区的生活与创作

中唐诗人戎昱从大历初年回到故乡在荆南节度使幕府中任职,到大历四年前后在澧州刺史府中作幕僚。大历五年冬天,先后游历衡阳、耒阳等地,大历十一年流徙到桂州。建中三年到兴元元年他曾担任辰州刺史,贞元初年,改任浙江东道某州刺史,贞元七年,任虔州刺史。他的晚年颇为凄惨,在颠沛流离的后半生生涯中,创作了不少富于感情色彩的诗作,或述说自己命运的不济,或钟情朝廷,或思念故乡。他的抒情小诗也富于文学情感。
