English-training institutes seem to be ubiquitous in India, and they often index the United States through reference to ‘American accent’ training, American teachers, or simply American flags on their storefront signs. ABSTRACTExercise in healthy female adults around the menopausal transition has been routinely examined in leisure activities alone, potentially discounting the physical activity (PA) that is accumulated in household and outdoor domains. The purpose of this study was to quantify PA in healthy middle-aged women and to examine the extent to which the Center for Disease Control (CDC) PA guidelines were met through leisure, household, and outdoor activities. Methods: 440 healthy women, 51–64 years old, BMI ≥18.5 or < 40 kg/m2, participated in the study using the Lifetime Physical Activity Questionnaire (LPAQ) to quantify PA. Results: 25.91% met the CDC PA guidelines if leisure time alone was examined. When multiple domains were included, 73.41% of the women met the PA guidelines. This percentage is much higher than the reported 20.6% of U.S. adults who met the guidelines in 2011. PA in women may be underrepresented in data limited to leisure time PA. 相似文献

The purpose of this article is to explore the impact of one type of activity-based group work, adventure therapy (AT) group practice, on youth in a community-based mental health setting. Using data collected from Adventure Works, a nonprofit outdoor behavioral healthcare and adventure therapy counseling center, this article explores treatment outcomes to identify the effectiveness of adventure therapy group interventions. AT has been identified as an effective intervention within wilderness and residential settings, but little research exists focusing on adventure therapy in a community setting. Data collected shows positive outcomes for youth participating in adventure-based group therapy. Research and practice implications are discussed. 相似文献

ABSTRACT The use of social- and sexual networking-based Web sites designed to provide easy and more anonymous access to sexual partners is rising. The popularity of the use of Web sites by male sex workers to promote their services and find clients is also rising. To date, very little inquiry has been devoted to studying the sexual behaviors solicited within online advertisement profiles of male sex workers and men who have sex with men. This study utilized a widely used popular Internet site designed to advertise to clients and gathered demographic, advertised sexual and nonsexual behaviors, pricing, and safety risk category data from profiles within the state of Florida (n = 163). Pearson chi-square analyses indicated that location and several sexual behaviors were significantly related to how often the men reported the degree to which they had safer sex with clients. These findings suggest some male sex workers do not consistently maintain safer-sex behaviors and that some of these men are engaging in sexual activity while under the influence of drugs. Future recommendations support the need for effective public health outreach that emphasizes the importance of safer sexual decision making. 相似文献
