Estimation of reliability for a multicomponent survival stress-strength model based on exponential distributions

Uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator (UMVUE) of reliability in stress-strength model (known stress) is obtained for a multicomponent survival model based on exponential distributions for parallel system. The variance of this estimator is compared with Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRB) for the variance of unbiased estimator of reliability, and the mean square error (MSE) of maximum likelihood estimator of reliability in case of two component system.     

Sequential analysis of 3m supersaturated factorial experiments

In this paper, designs that allow for the estimation of all main effects, and the detection and estimation of significant interactions in fewer runs than used in traditional approaches are examined. Specifically, a method for sequentially analyzing data from 3m fractional factorial experiments is presented. The procedure is illustrated through two examples.     

Infant feeding and post-neonatal mortality in Derbyshire,England, in the early twentieth century

This paper examines influences on post-neonatal mortality in Derbyshire (England) in the early twentieth century, by applying multivariate hazard analysis to a rare individual-level data set. The data allow detailed patterns of breastfeeding and weaning to be examined. The role of feeding is given special attention as a mediator between mortality and the other environmental, social, and demographic factors considered. Twins and illegitimate children were more likely to have been hand-fed, but this could explain only a small fraction of their increased vulnerability. Artificial feeding was associated with increased risks of death from diarrhoea, respiratory disease, and wasting diseases. It is suggested that the link with wasting diseases was predominantly the result of the greater likelihood of congenitally weak children being hand-fed. Most of the variation in post-neonatal mortality, particularly from respiratory disease, was explained by environmental influences - population density, altitude, and the presence of mining.     

汉英旅游平行文本对比和翻译研究——以安庆美食与巴斯小吃为例

平行文本是指语篇类型与功能相似的不同语言形式的文本,不同语言系统的中英旅游文本有其各自独特的规律。从文本功能和翻译目的出发,以中国安庆地方美食和英国巴斯风味小吃为例,通过对旅游平行文本进行对比分析,找出英汉旅游文本中的差异。在此基础上,提出切实可行的翻译策略,对原有的中文文本内容进行重组改写,更加有效地传递旅游文本中的信息,制作出满足外国游客需求的美食文本。从而实现旅游文本的呼吁感染功能,推动美味中国走向世界。     

韩、柳古文创造的路径及其体性

在对韩、柳古文运动及其理论研究中,人们对于文道理论尤为重视,而对于古文的文体创造与体性却有所忽视.本文指出,韩、柳古文的创造主要遵从了三条路径:从时态上看,是非今革古之路;从语体上看,是融合骈散之路;从观念上看,是出文入笔之路.正是这几条路径的选择,创造出了韩、柳古文这种混合今古、以散带骈、跳出文笔的全新文体,中国散文学史也因此从文笔对举阶段走向了诗文并称的新阶段.对于以往研究中诸如古文运动以骈文为对立面等不实认识,本文也有所纠正.     

高校英文网页的翻译失误探析——以福建重点本科院校为例

翻译失误是影响高校网页外宣效果的因素之一.以目的论为指导,以主流英语国家4所高校的“学校概况”作为平行文本,分析福建7所重点本科院校英文网页“学校概况”的翻译失误,归纳其中存在的语用性、文化性和语言性等3种类型的翻译失误,指出译者在翻译高校“学校概况”时应积极查阅平行文本,采用符合国外受众阅读习惯的表达方式,避免翻译失误,以取得高校对外宣传的正效益.     

阎镇珩的骈文与学术思想析论

阎镇珩的骈文数量不多但其骈文意识明确、骈文兴趣强烈。他以古文为骈文,注重语气词和虚词的使用,以散行之气运排偶之文,追求骈散交融的魏晋文风;多写所闻所见,现实性和真实性明显,即使是历史性题材,也多借古讽今或以古鉴今,情感浓郁,文气流畅。在文章和学术思想上,他师承桐城,推崇宋学,批判汉学,但又不废骈文。这说明文章崇尚与学术倾向之间没有必然的对应关系。     

平行文本分析与旅游文本英译的改写策略

翻译中存在改写的策略,然而译者的改写自由是有限度的。通过对旅游文本翻译产生改写现象的理论依据进行讨论发现,出于文本功能和文本接受的考虑,需要对英汉文本进行平行文本对比分析。这一方法有助于译者实施改写策略和明确改写的限度。
