Optimal stated preference choice experiments when all choice sets contain a specific option

Stated preference choice experiments are routinely used in many areas from marketing to medicine. While results on the optimal choice sets to present for the forced choice setting have been determined in a variety of situations, no results have appeared to date on the optimal choice sets to use when either all choice sets are to contain a common base alternative or when all choice sets contain a “none of these” option. These problems are considered in this paper.

从当前建立和谐社会的视角,通过对渝西地区贫困大学生心理现状的调查研究,提出了构建合理的贫困大学生心理危机干预行动方案:明确贫困大学生心理危机干预的基本任务;遵循心理危机干预的基本原则;针对贫困大学生心理危机干预的主要内容,提出具体的心理危机干预机制策略建议,以便为更好地开展助困和心理教育工作提供理论及事实依据,提高应对处理能力。     

论职工持股计划的缺陷性--兼评国有资产流失的原因

中国现已停止实施职工持股计划(ESOPs),但在西方国家,却普遍认为ESOPs具有不少优点,特别是对职工的激励作用,因而日益受到人们的重视.随着中国证券市场的发展,中国是否也应该实施ESOPs?文章认为,我国不必重新启用ESOPs,因它具有三个不可克服的内在的缺陷性.实施长期ESOPs的企业,会使其市场价值增加,但这部份增加的价值是职工股持有人无法获得的资本利得和无法转移的持有风险的价值,国有股其性质相当于此类ESOPs,导致国有资产的流失.实施短期的ESOPs会诱发内幕信息的产生,违背了资本市场的“公平、公开、公正”的原则,事实上,ESOPs对职工无激励作用而言.因此,应永久性停止使用ESOPs.

蒙昧决策是指凭借愚昧、迷信的方式进行的决策活动,是人类最早的决策活动;包括了巫术、拆字、堪舆、占星、占卜、问神、起课、谶谣等基本形式;蒙昧决策体现出神秘性、或然性、主观随意性和经验性的特征;具有预测未来、心理调适、舆论导向等功能;蒙昧决策在当今的流行有其独特表现和多方面的原因。应从三方面防范蒙昧决策:一是坚持无神论立场,二是坚持能动的革命的反映论立场,三是正确看待某些所谓灵验的蒙昧决策。     

The Role of Hazardousness and Regulatory Practice in the Accidental Release of Chemicals at U.S. Industrial Facilities

This article presents the results of an analysis of the accident history data reported under section 112(r) of the Clean Air Act Amendments. These data provide a fairly complete record of the consequences of reportable accidental releases occurring during the time frame 1995-1999 in the U.S. chemical industry and covering 77 toxic and 63 flammable substances subject to the provisions of section 112(r). As such, these results are of fundamental interest to the affected communities, regulators, and insurers, as well as to owners and managers in the chemical industry. The results show the statistical associations between accident frequency and severity and a number of characteristics of reporting facilities, including their size, the hazardousness of the processes and chemicals inventoried, and the regulatory programs (in addition to section 112(r)) to which these facilities are subject. The results are interpreted in light of economic drivers of protective activity and regulatory priorities for monitoring and enforcement.     

ASN-minimax double sampling plans for variables

X be a continuous quality characteristic, with one-sided lower specification limit, having either normal distribution with known σ or exponential distribution. We report on an algorithm allowing the calculation of the so-called ASN-Minimax plan. This plan has minimal maximal average sample size among all double sampling plans for variables that obey the classical two-points-condition on the operating characteristic. On the robustness of the optimum balanced 2m factorial designs of resolution v (given by Srivastava and Chopra) in the presence of outliers

In this paper we study the sensitivity of the optimum balanced resolution V plans for 2^m factorials, to outliers, using the measure suggested by Box and Drapper (1975). We observe that the designs are robust, i.e., have low sensitivity.
